All of them had the same ratio. 05-23. Should equate to roughly 2.5 turns lock to lock.

A buddy of mine has the LSK kit on a 4wd and used a GPS sensor from Summit to tie into the speedo unit for a working speedo, works great for him and the truck shifts as it should. 06 Tacoma.

Anyway you could find out what unit he is using from summit. Also any info on where he tied it into the wire harness to get it to make the stock speedo work would be awesome.
The 2wd trucks get its speedo signal from the rear wheel speed sensors. They send their info to the ABS computer which in turn sends the info to the speedometer.

I'm messaging him now. I was 2nd now 4wd and use the speed sensor signal in the TC directly to the speedometer. That parts wasn't that hard, just needed to find the right wires and make the connection.

Edit: I just talked to him, from Summit S9020 for the receiver and SUM800109 for the sending unit. The 800109 doesn't come up anymore but a 800107 does.

Speed sensors are an easy thing to do. Reluctor on driveshaft, mount a sensor and dial it in with a Dakota digital. The hard part is keeping the PCM from throwing an ABS code when it’s disabled entirely. But still highly possible with some time.

Pretty positive they even make mounting kits that will mount direct to the pinion flange of a ford 9.

Thoughts on building a bedcage that doesn't tie into the frame but only bed mounting bolts?

Depends on its purpose. Are you planning on using it to mount the shocks? That’s a lot of load to put on those little bed bolts. I personally wouldn’t do it.

If you’re just planing on using it to mount accessories or carry a spare tire that’s fine.

I've always thought that it is a bad idea, not that a bolt on bed cage is bad but the bed bolts as a mounting are bad. The stand offs / mounting points where those bed bolts go are a well know problematic issue with these trucks. Due to the excessive frame flex those mounts wear down over time from basically being sanded down by the frame rubbing against them. When that happens the bed bolts no longer secure the bed tight to frame and your bed can start looking crooked vs the back of the cab & rattle because it is no longer being held tight to the frame. This is well know issue probably a dozen + threads about it. So, I would think that if you add the stress / flex of a bed cage tied into those points it would accelerate that issue.

Interesting to see another kit out there with a spindle and verticals.

However, at the point of going to a spindle and vertical uniballs, there is so much potential lost with keeping the factory tower and geometry.

Out of genuine curiosity. What’s wrong with mild steel? Because unless you’re going to spend big money on heat treating 4130, there isn’t much gain to be had.

95%+ of the kits out there are mild steel.

Mine is made that way, its been that way since 2013, I have since expanded to the other bed bolts to mount more.
I do check the bed bolts 3 times a year for stress .
