This brings back my first pipe welding job we had this crazy iron worker on the hanger crew. His last name was Cash and if you heard hey daddy you learned not to look because he would show you his balls. Iron workers are a different breed

Now I’m thinking Ray Stevens They call him the streak song. Don’t look Martha!!

 

I need to go back to bed and get up again my mind is pulling things up from 40 years ago.

 

You gotta have some testicular fortitude to walk red iron, not for me

 

That kid is going places

 

I can even remember his partners name it was Scott. I asked him about that one day how do you walk a beam up that high. And his words were I smoke one first!

 

When I was a kid I worked on a crew fixing tornado damage back in 81, good money. We replaced the exterior skin of a 10 story building. You worked off of a swing stage, large scaffolding pick. It rode up and down on a 1/2” cable, the higher you went up the tighter it stayed against the building, felt more secure. The guys I worked with were nuts, lunch in the bar, 3 beers and a burger on a 30 minute lunch.

 

It’s always fun for someone who is not fond of heights to have a coworker with a sense of humor. Or a Crane operator into jokes and a man basket. You’re first warning is black smoke and a Crane engine almost at redline

"Bowling balls"

I used the metric system all the time at work, got used to measuring in mm and it was really good for small specs.

You get used to it. Easier than standard IMOGMO for the small stuff. I did work on one machine that had both standard and metric parts. That was fun.

All this talk of heights makes me dizzy. I am one of them people that does not handle heights very well at all. No thanky.

 

Almost word for word what my wife said.

I won't tolerate mistreatin̈g kids, old people, or animals

 

The only difference, I have the coffee FIRST

 

My dad was a general contractor. He put me in some of the most difficult spots, like forming a concrete grade beam 8 floors up. I was just 18.. Upon hearing my assignment, I told him I was scared of hights. His reply? "So what...get up there and get to work!"

 

The lake?

The mountains?

The trees?
