I live at the base of ACH. Haha. I go up there every so often on my lunch hreak when I work from home. Especially now while it’s hot because the elevation changes makes it so much cooler to ride.

I was contemplating working up to riding to work. I only have a 4 mile commute, but it's 3 big arterials with everyone doing 50+ on (in a 40). always high traffic during my drive. This morning I spent multiple light cycles to make it to work, thought how annoying that would be on a bike. I'll do it eventually, but not this week!!

A moto/camping hybrid build would be awesome. But like you said, prices on them are nuts now. My only hope for the forseeable future is lucking into someone who wants to move into the truck life and is willing to trade for my tacoma lol. Otherwise the truck will have to do.

that is awesome you have time to ride it on your lunch break. I used to go for rides on my lunch break sometimes but it's all just city streets around me, more frustrating than anything

So I attempted to take the monkey off road for shits n gigs. My first mistake was trying to do a hill climb right out of the gate. Made it maybe 20 yards in and completely lost traction is loose sand/rocks and couldn’t go any further. If it were any heavier I would’ve dropped it. Turned around but at least I got some dirt on the bike for poser points.

I was also finally able to add the exhaust and yellow Laminx to the headlight so the aesthetics are “done” for now.

Ha complete the loop to Yosemite! I'll be there the 7th-14th, my wife booked us an airbnb. Going to a wedding on that Saturday but otherwise want to check out the parks and explore the area.

I would love to ride ACH more often if I didn't feel like I was putting my life in some tik tok tween's hands ever time I went up there. Maybe when Newcomb's opens back up...

just a couple of things tbh
just give it time and ride around town first until you feel comfortable to do it! 4 miles isnt far but best to be comfortable before trying it
i dont think i could ever trade the truck off for a van to daily drive tbh lol i would hate it! but as a 3rd vehicle that just sits i could see that! but at the same time id also rather just get a 3/4 ton truck that can tow a good size trailer and still be capable ish to do what i want to do these days for "offroading" but they are pricey as well! so little taco will have to stay!

Prices on Van's have been bad for awhile now. Atleast what I've seen in the north east. I've been looking at buying 1 for a couple years now but the prices are ridiculous.

if I daily'd my truck at all i would agree, but for the most part mine just sits parked nowadays, only being used for the occasional trip to UPS/FedEx, taking my dog to the beach/vet, or for camping/road trips and towing the bikes to the track. Any of which would be handled just fine with a van as well lol, maybe even better.

That actually reminds me, my dad has an old Ford Econoline van that he's offered to me...only issue is that it's in North Carolina and not in the best condition, or even drivable right now as far as I know.

I don’t even bother going up there on weekends. I have run into some industry people I know filming stuff before though. Kinda funny to happen upon them like that. I may have come out in a few shock surplus videos in the background on my bike before they knew it was me.

I hauled a monkey over to Ellensburg, WA along with a cameraman. Hauled the cameraman along the WABDR section 3 for filming these 4 monkeys. Was a ton of fun. They did section 4 the next day, but I had to work. The plan was the entire BDR, but fires had half of it shut down. They did way better than the guys expected.

Hell yeah. I still have the stock tires but the particular road I was on was gnarly. I think the Tacoma would’ve struggled on it but made it in 4low. Those roads look way better than the dumb stuff I was attempting.

Yeah, most of it was just FS roads. There's one washout they drove through, but it was fine. Just needed some momentum. Later on the road was "moon dust", just nothing but this fine 3 inch deep powder. That was interesting for sure. Even in the truck in felt weird. They had modified there monkey's quite a bit. only one was relatively stock. Clutches, Exhaust, suspension and tires... other stuff i'm sure.
