    Level kit and 285’s.
Was having a leveling kit installed on my new 2024 TRD off road and my mechanic called me to let me know the CV Boot on the inner driver side was leaking grease. Had 100 miles on it at the time. Called my local dealer and they said to bring it in after the install and they would inspect it. They thought it could be leaking from the clamp so they replaced the clamp. Drove it another 100 miles and it was still leaking. They ordered a new boot but recently told me they are on National back order and will take 6 to 18 months to get. Any one else have this problem?

It's typical of first year runs, its likely the axle is available but they wont change it unless there was an axle issue with the shaft joints.

Just gotta be patient, its not going to leak the whole boot out, the leveling kit is going to make it worse though, so just keep an eye on it.

You can always verify by calling another dealer's parts dept, where they'll have an incentive to profit.

Leave your truck at your mechanic's shop, test drive a new truck & head straight to your mechanic, swap out the axles, problem solved.:D:thumbsup::rofl:

If I bought a new truck and it was leaking like that I wouldn't wait 6-18 months for repairs. Tell the to swap the axle.

The dealer was able to get a boot in and make the repair. :)

Happy you got it fixed. If the dealer didn’t fix it, I'd find a good axle rebuilder locally or contact CVJ axles. Have them re-boot.

A new truck should not be leaking cv axle grease. You aren't the first example I've seen on this new gen. I bet this is one of those common issues on the new trucks. Toyota really needs to get their sheit together. The engineers and or parts suppliers are not up to par.

They'd end up replacing the axle under warranty instead of just re-booting it if it went 18mo and had a particularly angry owner to deal with on top of it. Glad they were able to get you a new boot in a reasonable timeframe.

have no idea why you were even considering having the lift shop do the repair on the cv....
let alone just replace the clamp....

Not being a dick, you have warranty, you may have shot yourself in the foot when you take it into the dealer for warranty work, and the text tell you to pound sand because it was tampered with. I see it every day…
Dealership could easily said we don’t see a leak and the shop that did your lift damaged the CV boot or CV joint, and we’re not covering any repairs.
    Just trying to educate,

While you are playing the woulda coulda game, the dealership did exactly the opposite of what you are trying to “educate” about

    That’s great, I saw that…
I’m just stating facts, been a dealership technician for 35 years…
I get that you didn’t want to be inconvenienced to go to the dealership as most of the guys on here show that pattern, could’ve ended badly, that’s all I’m saying…
You want to argue also, why didn’t you tell the guys stop and not worry about the grease CV joint issue, I have warranty…
    It’s a brand new truck

He never said that the shop doing the lift was trying to repair it

Bub, you are having a conversation with yourself, nothing you brought up happened in this thread

    Guess I was, must’ve been tired…
Went back and reread it, my apologies…
Thought I read the guys that did the lift were trying to repair the CV leak, I was simply trying to point out that that wouldn’t have been a good approach.
    Carry-on
