Gotta give a big shout out to @JustDSM for all your help! 4 Years ago he helped me get my 2nd Gen tuned after the TRD S/C, headers, intake etc. and the improvements were drastic! Now 4 years later I decided to check in and ask Justin if there were any updates to my setup. I figured some advancements must have happened over that time. He responded right away, sent me over an updated tune, and I got it loaded up this past weekend. Can't say thank you enough Justin! Best part is the first tune I had left an occasional Rev Hang issue with the transmission, but that's completely gone now! Trans shifts smooth, and the engine seems to pull a bit more at the top end. Next Steps are a larger TB and the RatioTek shift kit. Not sure what I'd do without all your help man, thank you again!

When did you get rev hang? Was it low speed from stop? I feel like I get an occasional rev hang when driving slow but i can’t tell if it’s shifting or just light foot,

    Hi peeps,

I'm having an accessibility issue with HP Tuners. Seems I can access "old" tunes to edit them in VCM Editor but not new ones from various sources. I can't even view the calibrations of the new ones since the VCM Editor doesn't even give me the option. The only function allowed when opening a "new" tune is to write it the vehicle.

Are tunes copyrighted now? Are they somehow newly locked? What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks!

With the software are we able to customize our own Tunes or modify the included ones or is it entirely locked to a specific premade tune and I can only get customized tuning via HP tuners or OTT?

My understanding now is that it depends on the tune and depends on the tuner. Because the tune service is proprietary to the tuner, that person can lock a tune file so its content can't be opened, viewed and/or modified using the software.

But if your tune isn't locked, you can fumble around with the HP Tuner software (and that tune file) to your heart's content. lol

Okay that's what I thought. I'd probably purchase direct from HPT. I really only want to adjust shift points and alter some DTC reporting.

yeah, but he mentioned not touching any of the DTC stuff. I need to turn off reporting of the SAIS valves since they just keep rearing their ugly heads and throwing the truck into limp mode. I have the Hewitt Kit to try to combat it, but the module seems to be failing. I reached out to Hewitt and they are replacing it, but eventually I'd like to just remove the whole system and be done with it. I don't live in a state with emissions testing.

Secondary Air question, I’d really appreciate any help if someone has done something similar:

I’ve got a ucon on my truck since building, and it’s working ok so I don’t have any plans (right now at least) of ditching it. However, I’m really getting tired of looking at the SAIS under the hood and want to get rid of it. No worries on inspections since we’re “off-road” only! Lol.

Anyway, I’ve got HP Tuners on my laptop since I tuned my other truck, so I’m very familiar. My question is, can I write off the SAIS with HP tuners without screwing up or getting interference from ucon? The only thing I plan on touching in the ECU is the SAIS system.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

My truck: 2013 Manual trans X-Runner.

Not sure about Ucon, but there is a way to turn off SAIS reporting. I'd have to do a bunch of searching again to find it, as my memory fails me.

EDIT: Found this on a quick google: "Find the codes you wish to disable, then uncheck the SES box and click on the error report. It should bring up a drop down, then select "3 no error reported"."

Thanks for the reply. Yep, that’s how I shut off a lot of different things on my other truck. My main concern though, is if it would make any difference since I have ucon hooked up

If the ucon is standalone I would think it's fine

2nd gen auto owners, what does your truck idle at?

I'm thinking mine is low for some reason now.

Not all the time, ha. I've tried glancing but I don't drive the truck daily. Wife does. I'll have to take a closer look and maybe take a log but not entirely sure what would cause it. I've changed plugs within the last couple years and don't recall that making any difference
