Currently running the Icon AAL with the factory overload spring installed also. I like the ride but want to move to a full leaf pack. I want something that will get me the similar lift maybe just slightly more but will also carry more weight. I drive 80% of my time loaded down as it’s my designated adventure rig at this point. I end up right on the cusp between stage 1&2 for deavers recommendations. I also like the Icon kit because I could then adjust between stages.

It’s tough to gauge stuff like this based just off numbers so I was curious if anyone went from a setup like mine and how it went.

I have the OME heavy spring pack (EL112R)- my constant load is roughly 400lbs (decked- 200lb + ~100lb fiberglass topper + tools). I wouldn't go any lighter on the springs even though the springs are spec'd @ 600+lb constant load..

I have Deaver U402s stage III, w FOX 2.5 PE's on all 4 corners. The setup is great, I recently carried ~1500 lbs of concrete & brick in the bed -- in addition to the +350 lbs of permanent bed cap, lumber rack, & bumper -- safely and comfortably. Still an inch or more above the already-tall aftermarket foam bump stops.

However, with heavy-duty leaf springs, of course when the truck is unloaded the rear is very hard/bumpy.

Springs have to be loaded into their proper flex range to operate normally. Be sure the spring load rating you choose matches your average load weight. And/or, if you want heavy load capability, be prepared to run with several hundred pounds of ballast (when otherwise unloaded) in the back to keep a normal-feeling ride.

I was in a similar situation, right on the cusp of the Deaver stage 1 and 2. I opted for stage 2. It’s definitely a bit stiff and harsh when it’s unloaded and rides perfectly when loaded with gear. I’m very happy with the setup.

About how much weight are you running when loaded?

Probably around 600-700 lbs. Still has the proper amount of lift and rides really well. I think it could easily handle another few hundred if needed.
