That name reminds me of my old navy friend Big Bad Bob Bretsman Bound for his Bungelo on Baloy Beach, Barrio Baretto.

it’s been so long I can’t remember his full name :(

Got my drive in with the Green Bean and got my much needed dose of fresh/cool mountain air. Got home in time to do a full interior detail and wash on the Silver Ghost (finally decided on a nickname). Really wanted Grey Ghost for the fly-fishing historical reference, but it's not grey. Been driving the Tundra so much lately, I forget how fun the Taco is to drive.

Drove the Turd gen to work today. 50 mile commute. Managed 22.5 on the way there. Not the 43 I usually get in the hatch. But marginally acceptable for a Taco.

    Evenin' Stockards. :hattip:

Stockards. I like that. What do you stockards like for rear shocks?

I need to do some measurin’ and see if we know what the rear leaf packs are. Service records indicate the rear springs were replaced, but don’t indicate why or what with. Perhaps a heavier duty pack. Try to get a picture and measure tomorrow.

I think it has Duralasts on it now. Symptoms of bad shocks is when both rear tires hit a bump at the same time, I’ll get something that feels almost like steering shimmy but from the rear of course. I hit 2 expansion seams on an old bridge twice a day. These must be 6” long and 3” high. I’m going 35 or 40 MPH, and each time I hit one it feels like the rear end bounces 3 times.

2008 access cab, 6 foot bed. Only additional weight back there is a plastic bed liner and a tarp/cover thingy. Sometimes I have up to 150 pounds of seed at the back of the bed (worst place). Seed load seems to make no difference.

Bilstein 4600 or 5100 both seem to be quite popular replacements/upgrades to OEM.

Or you could look for a slightly used set of 3rd Gen Take offs that someone is selling due to a suspension upgrade. The 3rd Gen Marketplace would be where they are listed.

    Matches expectations.
I expect the AT has pretty well mapped itself. How do you feel about it? Do you use the buttons ... ECT or something IIRC?

Having only owned it for a couple of months, I'm still playing around with it. I don't necessarily care for the ECT function. Maybe if I towed it would help. Otherwise it just seems to wind out the gears more which doesn't feel very refined at light throttle. What I've found feels the best is sliding it over to S4. This doesn't allow shifts beyond 4th gear. This feels best to me when I'm driving in the city and speeds are rarely over 45 mph. I can always upshift to 5th if need be. I like the manual sequential shift feature. Using S mode keeps it from finding 6th gear as soon as possible each time.

When I'm out of the city proper I mostly just drop it in D.
