The other thing I’m encountering a lot of are people who make a right turn out of a parking lot or side street onto a busy road, and fail to realize that they are turning onto a busy a road. They turned left onto a road with a 45-55 MPH speed limit going 25-35 MPH. Other times, they make a left turn across opposing lanes and just sit there until they can get in, despite the fact that they are extreme risk of getting T-boned.

Yet another scenario I’ve encountered a lot recently is when I’m waiting to make a turn, and people take their turn too wide, almost hitting me! Once again, dashcam, great insurance, good lawyers…

    What else can you do?!?!

Screw her , don't let it bother u, she was obviously immature. In many cases where people tailgate me I've put my hand out the window and signaled them to pass me, they never do but seem to back off. I was once young and did jabroni stuff.

    Mehhh…..It’s over and done with.
Carry on. No need to dwell on it.

If it were me, I’d hope she posted all kinds of pictures and told everyone about me and my truck.
Maybe people will see it, and they’d stay the hell away from me. The older I get, the less I like people in general.

Even without the aforementioned magnets, it still happens; I think people are just entitled and I’m in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This was least a year ago, when Amanda was still living in Ambler with the psycho bitch known as Emily and working at Moe’s; I was still working at NAVMAR, and it was my day off. Amanda had been scheduled to work an afternoon shift rather than the 9am-2:30pm shift she was usually worked; I was either in a bad mood or not feeling good, and I was less than happy about having to drive all the way to Ambler and then all the way back to Warrington on my day off, when I could have been napping.

I was going straight, and there was a right turn lane; I was just minding my own business when these teenagers in a white Ford Expedition roared up beside me in the right turn lane and attempted to pass me; I wasn’t having it. I laid on the horn, I put the pedal to the floor, and by some miracle I was able to enforce my position in the cue despite having four fewer cylinders.

A short time later, the same white Expedition got into the left turn only lane, and used the left lane to cut off a Toyota Camry from a driving school that was directly in front of me.

Where the actual fuck is a cop when you need one?!?!

This happened years ago, like before COVID, and before my best friend Mike finally got his driver’s license; Mike got his license in October 2019 if I remember correctly, so it was sometime before that.

I bumped a parked Ford Focus in the movie theater parking lot, but didn’t realize that I had done so until I reviewed the dashcam footage hours later.

I was looking for a parking spot, and I saw a Tacoma so
I decided to do a K-turn and park next to it; Mike, who has Aspergers like me and is not very articulate at times because of it, was in the shotgun seat.

I did not feel the impact with the Focus, but Mike told me that “somebody was staring at me”. I decided to abort the plan to park next to the other Tacoma, and parked in an area where there weren’t as many cars.

That night, I reviewed my dashcam footage; I did not feel the impact, but you could clearly see the Focus move. You can also see a woman sitting in the Focus reading a book.

What Mike referred to as “someone is staring” in actuality was the pissed off woman getting out of the Focus and following me the length of several parking spaces and following me the length of several parking spaces before giving up and walking back to her car; I say again that Mike and I did not feel the impact, and I didn't even see the woman following us.

After reviewing the dashcam footage, I decided that if the woman had given my license plate number to the police and they showed up at my house, I would tell the honest truth that I didn’t realize an impact had occurred until I reviewed the dashcam footage, and if that there damage to the Focus I would happily give the woman my insurance info .If the cops had decided to be dickheads and give me a ticket for leaving the scene of an accident, I would have been a dickhead right back and contacted one of my aforementioned attorney friends.

That was at least five years ago, and nothing ever came of it, so I think I’m good; I told Mike and his parents about the incident a short time later, and Mike’s mom told me that his inability to articulate sentences properly had been been an ongoing issue; Mike has gotten a lot better since then. :)

It’s funny you mention that, because my dad’s childhood friend John lives in Kentucky. He came to visit us in the summer of 2016, flying into Philadelphia and taking the SEPTA train to Warminster; I picked him up and drove him to our house in Warrington.

During the drive to our house, John told me that he’d never want to live in Pennsylvania because he didn’t think he could handle driving in such insane traffic. This was back in 2016. Since that time, a bunch of new developments have gone up and a few independently-built houses have gone up as well.

There were recently three major accidents on County Line Road in the span of six days, one of them fatal. The roads in my neck of the woods simply can’t handle the influx of new residents, and when you combine that with the people on the road who are angry about current events and influenced by social media, it’s a recipe for disaster!

I got fucked over by a coworker today, BIG TIME. When I first started working at the nursing home back in June, I mentioned a guy who was known for being unreliable. He got hired after Amanda, and was initially full-time, but then he requested to be switched to part-time so he could spend more time with his kids... o_O

This guy is Haitian, his primary language is French Creole or something, and he barely speaks a word of English. When we talked, he could say "Charlie" and ask where the dish scrubber was among other things, but that was about it. He was actually doing pretty good a couple of weeks, showing up on time and working hard, and one of my supervisors said he was trying to get his full-time position back (which I now have).

This morning, I got up to pee at a little after 8am, with the intention of going back to sleep for another hour (I work from 12pm to 8pm); I grabbed my phone to see what time it was, and I discovered a group message from the aforementioned supervisor to me and Amanda, sent at 6:54am. I was barely awake, I initially didn't process it, I took a piss, and I went back to bed; I couldn't get back to sleep, opened the message, and read it. The coworker was up to his old games, had texted our supervisor saying that he couldn't be in until 1pm. Our supervisor was asking if I could come in early to pick the slack, saying Amanda could pick up some extra hours too; I texted him back and said that I would be in by 10:30am at the latest.

When I got into work, our supervisor told me that the coworker was no longer employed there. Imagine my shock when he showed up at a little after 11am while I was washing the dishes. He worked for not even an hour before my supervisor fired him.

I always work 12pm-8pm, and there is a crossover period of roughly three hours where I am working alongside the full-time guy who works 7am-3pm. A couple days a week, the other part-time guy works 4pm-8pm on weekdays; I cannot remember the last time I worked solo for more than five hours, and I do not do well when I do, especially when it happens suddenly and with little to no warning.

So, today I was stuck doing the dishes that come in between noon and 3pm, which put me behind. One of the guys in Amanda's department (Amanda is dietary; I'm utility) helped me out a lot by running a good portion of the dishes through the dish machine, but he left at 7pm. Amanda, out of the goodness of her heart, helped me out from about 7:30pm onward, and we did not get out until after 9pm. It did not help out in the slightest that in addition to the other guy getting fired, a bunch of people in Amanda's department called out. A lot of the dishes were very late coming downstairs, and as stated above, we did not get out until 9pm due to a plethora of difficulties.

I have never been written up at any job, and that is still true. However, I did get two "written coachings" from my supervisors yesterday. They like me and don't want me to go, which is more than I can say for my coworker who got shitcanned this morning. The first issue was one that I take 100% responsibility for; I am generally pretty good about not being on my phone, but when things are slow, I have this bad habit of going on TacomaWorld or going on the Happy Color app. I also use my phone to listen to music and stream radio shows through Bluetooth earbuds, which is NOT against the rules. Basically, I was coached on time management.

The other issue I felt was just a tiny bit unfair, because I was lectured for leaving the room where the sink is in disarray. When it's not a busy night, or when the part-time guy is working 4pm to 8pm, this isn't an issue. Unfortunately, the nursing home is 22 years old and while the kitchen passes muster with the state health board, there are lots of plumbing issues that make my job harder; I do my absolute best, but I get overwhelmed when it gets past 8pm. My official shift is 12pm to 8pm, and we're normally out the door between 7:30pm and 7:45pm. If I get really lucky, generally when I have help, I'm ready to go by 7:15.

I have every intention of sticking with this job until spring of next year, but it is not for me; I love my supervisors, I get along with most of my coworkers, and the pay is great. However, washing dishes in a nursing home has similarities with working as a barback, but they are two totally different jobs. This is just a job and not a career, and I am largely working this job for convenience and money. One of the biggest issues is that when one person calls out or gets themselves fired, it negatively effects the whole damn team!

    :annoyed:

I've been a busser, a dishwasher, and a food prep.
I worked over 3 years in a restaurant.

It wasn't a nursing home. So the atmosphere was different then yours.
    But I can relate.

I will say, working in a restaurant was fun most of the time.
You get to meet a lot of people. You get to meet al walks of life.

I have pondered putting in two weeks’ notice once the transmission replacement is paid back; I have savings, but I can’t access that money right now, so my dad paid for the new transmission up front and I am paying him back. I am presently halfway there…
