No idea on any of the sidewall data. He said the tire had 13485 miles on it, and was installed in april 2022. Purchased new.

I wouldn't do that on the freeway, lmao. But like when I headed up the Banff or across northern Montana, plenty of roads that aren't interstates. In fact, those are the kind of roads the wife wants to see on bikes. Might be what triggered her push to get bikes instead of a new SxS.

that doesn't seem right. 2 years to have that sort of sidewall failure? I've got 11 year old tires on a bike I bought. Michelins. Next to no miles. I haven't done more than a test ride on them and wouldn't trust them despite being like new visibly. Have a set to go on that bike, but my point being...those look like 15 year old dried out rubber. Like it sat deflated and didn't move for a decade.

such a gorgeous bike. ride safe amigo

I'm in this camp. He can probably leverage some better savings buying if he waits until the season is fully over, and closer to holiday time. Especially if he can find one lightly used private party.

Who knows, maybe manufacturer defect? He said he'll definitely be checking his tire pressure more often, as he figures he musta been riding on it low for a bit, but hadn't noticed anything odd in handling. He commutes a fair distance on it 4 days a week, minimum. Only drives truck during ice/snow, or if he's hauling his MTB for use after work.

I had to look it up, but I remembered an adv tire recall recently for tread delaminating. it’s not a tusk 2track tire, is it? If it is, free tire and $100

The tires on my vintage Honda CB400F are the same ones I put on over 10 years ago and are low mileage. That bike is garage kept, ridden only a couple hundred miles per year and rarely if ever on interstates. I check pressure every time I ride it because it's used so little and check the sidewalls regularly.

Tire in that picture loos very old even if it was just installed 2 years ago. I see tires at swap meets all the time for cheap and sometimes just for shits and giggles I'll check them out. I've seen tires over 10 years old being offered for sale. No way in Hell I'd mount them and then ride on them at that point. Even at free they're no bargain.

Yes it is, I got out for a quick scoot after work yesterday through Machias but need to make it a point to make some more time for it before it's stands and cover time. After the 12th of September though I should have a fair amount of free time for a month or 2 at least.

I keep changing my mind on what to do. Getting more money really changed things too. You all make very good points. Today I will remove the rear shock and put the stock one back on. I will give it a good washing and take some good detailed pics. Then re list it for sale. I know for a fact that the dealer won’t give me anything close to what I could sell it for even getting low balled. It would just take away the hassle of selling. I do like the suggestion of waiting until winter or fall to purchase new. Like I said before I get impatient and get excited at the thought of something new to me. So first things first, remove , wash and list.

A long time ago, back in the dark ages, the national speed limit was 55. I remember it well.
All the "Stay Alive, Drive 55" campaigns, bill boards, signs, magazines, etc..
And Sammy Hager's famous, "I can't drive 55" came out just shortly before it was raised to 65mph.
When it hit 75mph, it was like you were flying, road trip times cut in half.

They might if you're buying something brand new off them, especially the dealer you're a customer with already. Worth a ride when you get it swapped over / freshened up and see what they'd say.

I remember my dad's 1985 ranger pickup with the oversized or bolded 55 on the speedo. Never knew what it was for when i was little.

KLX300 owners, how noisy is your engine while rolling around 4 - 6K RPM's, engine hot? Been noticing a rhythmic noise on mine when cruising, not as pronounced when you clutch in and coast, but can hear metal parts winding down. LH engine side, 3,000 kms currently. Pulls and shifts mostly good (6th gear dos not like cold shifts).
