    ya im making my decision tomorrow (v6 or i4) and man oh man until an hour ago reading that thread, I didnt realize how shit the mpg people were gettin with the v6. Looking for some quick hits from people if they can help

    Im not worried about power. My mind on the V6 was all about resale value and getting the full 4 doors. I drove a 300 whp 2100lbs civic for years so Im sick of driving fast lol

    Also, I found the I4 manual was close to the same power as the V6 auto (one we were looking at)

    prob is the manuals on 2nd gens are shit and get less mpg then autos

    I disagree. The 2.7 is a fine motor and can pull nearly as much as the 3.4. I have never had an issue with power.
    Tacoma's are all slow ass pick up trucks anyway. If you want speed buy a sports car. If you want extreme towing then a tacoma, regardless of engine size, is not going to be enough so get a full sized diesel.


    To the OP, I get about 230-250 miles to a tank mixed city and highway. Thats lifted 3" on 285/75/16s

    Are you looking at a 1st gen or 2nd gen?

    Ya I know, I didnt like that. Meh, Im only 24, and will be buying another Tacoma some day when money is better, so then I will get EXACTLY what I want. Still like the Access cabby though!

    I average 18.5 MPG in my V6 DCLB Sport 4x4 .

    Well it seems like everyone is averaging 20-21 mpg with their 4x4 2.7, and about 17 with the v6. thats an average of over 100 kms per tank. Thats alot when you factor in that we will se 24 000kms a year. Works out to be about 15% better on fuel and alot cheaper to start

    Is that canadian though? Because if so thats alot. My old 5.3 chev was not much worse then that and it was a 2000
