My opinion is don't get steel cable. It's heavier, subject to corrosion, and incredibly dangerous if it breaks under load.

Spend a little more to be safer and have less weight hanging off your vehicle, imo.

    Totally agree.
I recently had to winch my old riding lawn mower out from a precarious situation. I was using the winch on the 4wheeler. Steel cables suck.. I'm glad I carry gloves with me.

You guys make it sound like death by cable. A new steel cable has several years of safe life. You all have had several tugs last year from a three year old streel cable... no one died. Fray-yes, with time but I had three years of good use and no cable fray yet. Lighter and safer when it does get over loaded. Hell all we had for years and years were metal cables... Just say'in. I bought mine for like $300 bucks. Added the nylon this year.

Hot enough that you don't want to touch them! Mine ends up running around 8 minutes total when airing up, and I usually like to let it cool off before putting it away.

Awesome! I thought for sure it would have taken a wrong turn in Albuquerque.

Yep! Or, sometimes I just throw it on the floor in the passenger seat and put it in the bag later.

    Damn, that's looking awesome!

Yay. I have a Warn EVO, but a bunch of the guys use Badlands. I haven't heard any complaints.

I'd probably buy Warn again if I needed another one, but mostly so that I can stare down my nose at the Harbor Freight winch crowd. :stirthepot:

    You have a Zeon, correct?

IIRC, their lower end ones are made in China. I still like mine.

I've seen it in action. :D

I might upgrade to a Zeon, eventually.
