Ecu is the computer in your car

Ask your mechanics if the oil light would not come on during this one thousand miles of oil less driving and how they can explain that. Where did your engine sieze, like on the freeway?

Former Toyota mechanic. I’ve seen a few Toyotas go 500 plus miles w/o oil that a quick lube forgot to put in.

this lady did a 5 day road trip meaning it parked overnight and cranked up the next day and went thru quite a few heat cycles, how do you explain her oil pressure light never coming on if she actually had zero oil the entire time?

    Thanks for this! Very informative.

My truck never made noise until it died 375 miles into a 400 mile trip. Then I heard rattling in the engine, all the dash lights came on, and we immediately pulled over and called a tow. No smoke was seen or smelled at any point.

Road trip was two days -- 400 miles each way, if that matters. Oil pressure light never came on. Never overheated. No smoke seen or smelled. We drove up on Monday, the truck sat in my friend's driveway undriven for two days, then we drove home. No trouble starting the truck, no problems driving until its seized up 375 miles into the trip back.

Thank you! Do you think that's what happened to my truck? No oil and it died after 1000 miles as a result?

I wipe my drain plug with a rag after each oil change and it doesn’t look like it, that plug is brand new which if jiffy lube says they didn’t put it there someone tampered with your truck

Not possible someone else put in a new plug. Maybe Jiffy Lube did and either didn't note/charge me for it, or did it after the fact to hide something?

As I understand it, the oil light is actually an oil pressure sensor, right? What is it connected to and can my mechanic check to see if it's actually sensing properly?

The light did come on just before the engine died. So the physical light itself is working.

that’s definitely not an oem crush washer so if jiffy lube did it you know they actually drained your oil not sucked it out from the top so that kinda gets rid of the theory of the guy thinking he filled it because he drained it from the top
Basically it’s looking like human error whether jiffy lube fucked up or someone tampered with your truck

but again baffling if they have the video of them filling your truck

I still think it could be they didn’t torque it and drain plug was loose or maybe incorrect drain plug since plug doesn’t look oem

It seems that way. Where did y’all stay the night before the day it seized while driving? It’s crazy that the oil light didn’t come on.

There is video from underneath the truck of a tech using a torque wrench a couple of times, although the plug is out of view.

The truck was parked in my friend's driveway, in a gated community. Not a drop of oil on the driveway (she checked the day it happened).

ive replaced plugs when it was faster. like been in an engine dropped the plug into a oil catch, or it hit the floor and few off somewhere been easier to just grab a new one and send it home

ask them if they replaced the drain plug it’s easily verifiable if it’s theirs since “m 12” (for metric 12mm) is stamped on it, those idiots could have not threaded it correctly

That makes sense. Although I think Jiffy Lube would have charged me for a new one, just because they charge you to breathe in their lobby.
