We test drove one and liked it. She likes smaller cars, and crosstreks are a little bit better for our budget than a corolla cross or Rav4. I love her GV, even though it's an auto and 4 door. It only has about 120,000 on it, and the majority of those were being towed behind her grandparents RV. I'm trying to get my parents to buy it and keep it in the family.

On any CVT equipped vehicle, I’d recommend getting the CVT inspected before purchase and confirm it has CVT fluid (Green) and not ATF (Red/Blue) in it. Also, if possible, only buy it if it has service records showing the CVT fluid was change every 30-50k. If ATF was used or transmission was never serviced, it will die quickly. At that point you’re replacing a transmission, so consider that when you are determining your realistic budget. A common and expensive issue like that could make one consider a vehicle a bit more expensive up front but more dependable and lower maintenance in the long run. Luckily, used car are way cheaper and there is way more inventory available right now, so a solid ride shouldn’t be too hard.

Thanks for the tip. I've been reading up on the CVTs, and it doesn't sound like a bad idea to get it inspected. We aren't pressed for time on this, but we'd like to get one before next May when I commission into the Air Force and move away. Thanks!

Meso spare fuse holder. Aluminum gas cap holder. Genuine Toyota bed lights. Bed molle racks. Ammo case storage under hood. In-bed spare tire. Automatic underhood lights. Gooey glurp on frame.
Were it me, I would avoid any of the CVTs except the Subaru CVT. And only then, if the CVT was drained and refilled at no more than 30,000 mile intervals. That drain-n-refill should be complete, including the torque converter. Shorter intervals work if the drain is just what's in the pan.

Subaru dealers will tell you that the Lineartronic CVT is "filled for life." I think that's nonsense. Independent Subaru garages recommend 30,000 mile intervals.

I had a 2017 Outback CVT and I miss it in many ways. But I replaced it with a Tacoma for reasons unrelated to the CVT. And for what it's worth, the Tacoma's conventional automatic is the busiest automatic transmission I've ever driven. So I plan on frequent drain & refill intervals.

Don’t you need like special tools to check on the CVT temperature and stuff? My gf has a 2018 crosstrek that just hit 60k miles and I’m planning to change all the fluids. But might leave the CVT fluid up to my local mechanics.

Don't see why not. It's big for it's capacity because fat roto cooler walls but super manageable. It's just redundant for me and I'm trying to clear out the rack to make space for a workbench now that it's cooling down.

    https://orcacoolers.com/collections/26-quart/products/white-26-cooler

...also just realized after hitting send you bought the rack lol... glad you managed to make that work haha

We had to pop one of the side rails off and then it snugly fit in the back seat :D Wouldn’t have been a big deal if it wasn’t 200° lol.

If you haven’t sold the cooler by the next time I’m up there, I’ll snag it for sure. I’ll shoot you a PM when I know.

Bump/price drop someone come get them

For sale, I have 2 Roam cases (No mounts), both I manage to lose the drain plugs for, looking for $200 for the pair

First case is a 83l in great condition it’s the newer version of it with the reinforced struts.

Second case is the 95l but that has a piece of plastic that broke off where one of the struts attach (I can take photos after work), still functions on one strut just a little slower.
