That’s not how it works at all. The pan always has oil in it, all the time. The level is lower when running as it’s being pushed through the engine but it always has oil. The oil pump sucks up from the pan which acts as a reservoir and it gravity drains back down into the pan from the rest of the engine.

I question o.p. not noticing the CEL light being on. No real disrespect meant but its not uncommon for people to be onlivious to CEL (check engine light) on the dash. I would surmise that its possibke that Billy Bob jr. was on camera holding a oil pump handle that was pumping air. When the barrel empties, an unaware, lets say tech., can just pump air.

Does this station have the type of pump with a gauge on it that reads oil dispensed amount as the tech pumps away. Time for paralegalBarbie to become Dick Tracey.

Did your mechanic check for that double stacked oil filter seal? The double seal could have held tempararily and under high oil pressure and the right conditions squirt out all the oil just right leaving no trace.

How many jiffy lube guys does it take to screw in a oil pan bolt?

    Mechanic: you've blown a seal

on the 2nd gen at least if your cel goes on so does a bunch of other lights like your traction control and a few other lights so it’s kinda impossible not to notice (when some douche stole my cat my dash lit up like a Christmas tree)

For the OP 0w20 is the correct oil they have a 4 banger, not the V6.

Hindsight is 20/20 but back when my truck was new, and Toyota did the first 2 years of complimentary service, I would scratch the oil filter before I went in, and take a pic, then look at filter and check oil level when I got home because I don't trust a lot of the mechanics out there. That ship has sailed now but I'd be absolutely shocked if the truck was able to go 1000 miles without no oil it. I would think in the first few miles there should be signs of noise, heat, smoke, etc.

How does this explain the lack of oil pressure sensor light? Could there have been just enough remaining to keep the sensor from kicking? Or perhaps the sensor is faulty simultaneously with the scenario you described above?

If it was double sealed the oil over everything would be obvious I'd think.

The OP says no dash warning lights came on until after the catastrophic damage was done. THAT doesn't fit with any of the possible explanations of what happened.

I know, but I'm looking for a tech reason for the lights not coming on. I don't know enough about electronics to know what scenario would allow the lights to remain off, and was trying to go there. I think your scenario is plausible, but doesn't explain the lack of lights, which may be a separate issue altogether.

I had CEL stuck in my head as I thought about how common it is that people run around witth it on. That said an oil light could easily be missed by the same crew.

Ok, so I’ve waisted an hour or so of my life with this.
I check my oil before I even leave the dealership. @amyracecar mentioned letting truck sit for a few. Service waits awhile to tell you it’s ready to let it settle for an accurate reading so the customer can check the stick if they choose is my guess.
My wife’s ford almost ruined after a change. She was warming it for heat before she left and it made a holy racket. Went in and gave them shit for it. I told to check before…….
    This is the lesson

Your right... maybe... I've personally replaced an engine the was "Jiffied" with a double gasket. It just plain blew out and pucked out all over. It is possible but not probable it sprayed a pin point high pressure stream while the last leg of the journey. Just saying.

I think the most realistic scenario is just enough oil was put in to keep things turning for a time, then finally seizing up. "There was no oil in it" may have been a generalized yet poor choice of words for the inspecting mechanic to use??? Was there oil in it? I'd bet some. Awful hard to take careless words back with a legally trained assassin wanting blood. (Sorry you may be justified).

My sister inlaws first car had a slant 6, an engine known to take abuse. After owning/driving it for 1 year, I drove it and noticed the oil light. It had 1 qt of "black tar" in it. Added oil, didn't skip a beat.
Probably still spewing hydro carbons today.

My first car had a slant 6, as a mechanically abusive teenager I only succeeded in killing it after running it into something at 50mph, the motor was good, the rest of the car was a POS.

Jiffy will deny any claim due too the 11 days you had the truck, you saying it sat is nothing but hearsay in the courts eye's.
You are on your own, next time do it yourself.
Tons of Jiffy lube complaints on the web,yet people STILL use them.

Nothing. 5.5 quarts of oil doesn't simply Vanish without a trace. They may be good actors. Are you sure the video is Your Truck?
