is the truck supposed to have a hitch cover from new?

i always wondered this. my '11 SR5 4x4 doesn't have one.

 

I believe the TRD models come with it .

 

that makes sense since my friend's did, but mine didn't.

My 08 came with a rubber hitch plug the fits in the receiver if that's what you are asking. It has the Toyota symbol on it.

 

Mine came with a plastic one with the dealer's name on it, I just figured they all did that, maybe just up to the dealer though, but it seems odd for you not to get one.

 

I gotta get some sleep , I misread your question , I thought you asked if they came with a hitch , not a hitch cover .

I bought my TRD used and it came with the plastic hitch plug, but somebody stole it . Let me know if you find it.

 

My 2007 came with one, not a Toyota though, it said Reese.

The 2011 did not, and it's a TRD model

Got one on Ebay for like 4 bucks anyway
