I used it in my 2010 at every oil change and never had a problem in 14 years before I sold it. For $7k it certainly is worth a try. It thins the oil a bit so I went to 5-W30 from 5-W20 in the heat of summer with no issues.

I was going to say use Bestline additive. My friends 2010 TRD OR had a similar lifter tick for over 70,000 miles and the previous owner had the dealer look at it. They said he needed a motor.
He put the Bestline in and much to my skepticism it was purring silent in 15 minutes. I’m still in disbelief.
First time I ever saw an additive fix something.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Who knows. Based on that video alone, sounds normal to my ears. Normal for a third gen Tacoma.

I hear nothing. That sounds like the engine is running normal.

Try going around the engine with a mechanics stethoscope.

Mine has sounded like that since I bought it new, and it now has 14k miles. I brought it to Toyota and they said it was normal direct injection noises, but I am not convinced so I am taking it to an independent shop for a second opinion. No healthy engine should make a ticking noise so loud that you can hear it 5-10 feet away. I've actually been able to hear mine ticking with the windows down from a stop till about 1k rpm. Mine is loudest on the driver side.

Sounds very similar to a hemi with a lifter tick.

I'm pretty sure that's a stuck lifter. Very similar sound to the modern Mopar Hemi V8 motor. On those motors the stuck lifter grinned down the came shaft and did a lot of destruction.

I've had that exact noise for at least the last 10k miles (truck is at 38k). I recently had an oil analysis done and it showed no abnormal wear.

Good to know. I only hear it at idle. I'm going to change the oil next weekend and see if there's anything in the filter. The truck runs just fine I just ticks on that side.
I might figure out which lifter it is and replace it......maybe.
Funds are kinda low because I just replaced my girls car,I crashed her old one and had to fix it myself cause I wasn't on the insurance.
That thread got deleted here, for no reason..

    Got her a 24 mazda CX30

It's gotten so that lifter tick and fuel injection tick are hardly distinguishable.

Your tick seems more 1x per revolution. I'm guessing belt or pulley issue.

I like the new Mazdas. They’re made pretty nicely also. Sister just got a CX-50 2025 and the Bose sound system rocks.

My previous 2018 Sport with 200k+ miles had the same drivers side noise and replacing the original PCV valve remediated the issue.

I ran some marvel mystery oil through it and it's made it a little better. I'm at 82k miles replacement of the PCV valve can't hurt.
