I see lots of posts with 35's and 4.88. Very few have mentioned 5.29, but I've heard nothing but good from them..... Anyone running this gear, and or care to comment??
Most of my search consisted of 4.88 and 4.56, and not what I was searching for.
    Thanks in advance,

I just put 4.56 gears in my Access Cab. V6, automatic transmission, no armor and 32 inch tires. I love it. Truck runs hard and freeway RPM is fine by me. If I had 35's, I wouldn't hesitate going with 5.29's. Unless you have a manual, then I'd recommend 4.88's.

Sorry about the link but the statement still applies regarding type of driving and usage. Personally, I would stick with either 4.56 or 4.88 with 35's if the truck is a DD and do any hwy driving. That may be why you will be hard pressed to find others running 5.29s.

After countless hours and forums, I believe for myself, and having a 2013 dbl cab with auto, and 1grfe, 4:88 with 35's will be my go to gear. The 5:29's, correct me if I'm wrong, matches the newer Tacos with 6th gear overdrive, and the 4:88's better suite the 35's. If you plan on going with 37's, on 2nd gens, the 5:29 would be a good gear. This is just my conclusion, and yours and all other Taco opinions may differ; hence, I stated "For myself"....

4.88s. do the math and it will be best match to what stock was. Been running 4.88s for over a year now and love it.

How is the acceleration? Uphills? I know it’s a joke around here but did the MPG slightly improve? lol

Trans doesn't search for gears anymore. Big bonus. I hated the downshift, then having to kick it out of the lower gear manually. I'm less involved with my shift lever now. (hehehe)

my truck is heavy as shit, and drive it hard, so my mpg is like 10-12. I tow with it also and it always seems to do fine. it kinda struggles on 10% grades while towing 5k.
it accelerates just fine. I do still recommend a good trans cooler even if not towing due to the heavy truck and large tires.

Notice that big time on the highway, could be the smallest incline and always downshifts. Or you slightly increase speed it down shifts.
