So guy came and looked at the boiler today. We fired it up and he did a quick air adjustment and it was good. Thing was actually choking for air and burning funny. Over-fueling a little bit so I'm gonna order a slightly smaller nozzle. So, for the price of a nozzle, I'm set! :D

I believe all Challenger lifts are ALI certified.

If you are replacing the floor look at the Challenger in ground lifts:

    https://www.challengerlifts.com/car-lift-category/inground-lifts/

The biggest problem with a lift in a smaller space is when you are not using it the thing is huge. With the in ground units you only have the arms to stumble over, not the columns.

These modern in ground lifts are way different that the single post units from days gone by. They offer full access just like an above ground lift and all the works are contained in a polymer tub so there is no chance of losing hydraulic oil into the ground.

Notice both the floor plate lift lift you posted and this in ground unit have 3 stage front & rear arms, a very nice luxury to have. :)

My lift has the arms configured as below, this would be looking at the drivers side with the vehicle pulled in.

    Offset-Arms-Close-Up.jpg

In addition to being 3 stage both front & rear, the front arm can be positioned closer to straight out from the column when lifting a front drive car or more forward when lifting larger cars or trucks.

I know this is off-topic but I think it’s pretty cool.
The two big industrial burner/flare/thermal oxidizer manufacturers here in Tulsa., They both are metal 3-D printing their combustion nozzles now to get better flow design and burner characteristics out of them.
It’s just crazy to think that we can 3-D print exotic metals like it’s nothing nowadays, of course yeah you gotta have about $3 million to buy the machine

I was watching a video last night about using the two post lifts and he mentioned that these jacks are mandatory for any home shop using a two post lift

    Agree.

My floor is probably at least 60 years old and was plenty thick -- on the other hand...

Mohawk is the most expensive lift in the industry, they also have the toughest specifications for concrete.

    upload_2024-9-1_13-43-24.png

The lift sits on a giant block of concrete 14' x 4'
    12" thick
    around 8500 pounds
    keyed under the original slab
    reinforced with rebar
pinned into the original slab all the way around every 12"
done by the best masonry contractor in town
    it ain't goin' nowhere. :D

I don't use them all the time - say for a routine oil change, tire rotation & brake inspection for example.

If it is a job with heavy work like my friends GMC that is currently up there with no bed, exhaust or fuel tank and missing a large chunk of the frame :frusty: then absolutely.
With a stand under the front & rear of the frame that truck is solid as a bridge up above our heads.
