So techs usually only flag an hour or so to do a PDI, so they can only do some much in that amount of time. It's what Toyota pays. Not excusing anything here, but just throwing that out there.

I realize that but that’s plenty of time to inspect obvious factory screw ups

So, this is a little outdated, but this is a checklist they go by. It does mention a visual on bolts. I guess if they see the factory paint marks line up it's good to go :notsure:

My last 3rd gen I bought after I brought it home I noticed the air deflector on the bottom of the front bumper was gouged and ripped… how the heck does the tech who did the pdi let that slide it’s as obvious as can be. Its sad that Toyota pays these guys to inspect these things and they don’t do what there being paid for. Dealer ended up buying me a new one but owners shouldn’t have to find obvious defects or damage on their own

Fkn A..... we sit and let them dictate without pushback they will walk all over us. It is human nature and ESPECIALLY from dealership personnel. You are spot on. The more we accept this the more it is becoming the norm... don't get me started.

Mine tried to pawn off an aftermarket hitch for my FJC when I paid for the factory one [I ordered the options]. [2 more inches of ground clearance over the aftermarket one] Then they tried to claim there were no more available. Funny, after I gave them very low marks on Toyotas questionaire and lodged my concern that I had paid for a factory hitch and expected a factory hitch, a hitch was ''magically found'' and installed on it. Dealer wanted me to redo my questionaire and change my marks.

    I didn't.

I believe all the Honda “loaners” (as far as guaranteed ones) are exactly like the Toyota transportation provision on the warranty. It’s being offered by the manufacturer as part of warranty coverage, not by the dealer. Remember that dealership are individual corporate entities (sometimes a chain) and their policies and requirements vary dealer by dealer. If they offer their own loaner it’s as a courtesy. Which, I agree, would be great if they were always provided.

The Dealership Represents the manufacturer, they are the first point of contact for the consumer , if a Dealership doesnt support a consumers needs then they should loose their liscense as a Dealer, by not providing a loaner car in a situation like this poor guy is going through is wrong, it cost the dealership zero to give him a loaner, these expenses are built in to the cost of being a dealership, The dealership can only benefit from being helpful and understanding , future sales, great customer surveys it all goes hand in hand

It was written right on the paperwork and valid across the entire US at ANY Honda dealership if it needed repairs that couldn't be done immediately.

Agree, if the cause was something that the dealer inspection should’ve caught, they have a share in the responsibility.

This is why Toyota caught so much crap over low transmission fluid levels and low diff levels, they SHOULD have been checked at the dealers and they were not even if the paperwork was pencil whipped.

Heck, give me a sharp enough pencil and I can make a 1 inch group at 1000 yards.

It is why the Tesla model is SO AWESOME. I wish every car manufacturer would follow their lead.

    It happens..

Years ago, my neighbor from next door, bought a new car from oldsmobile and on his way home, the transmission went out. He was pissed... So He got another car to get home. He told my dad about it. Then I came home ... my dad told me about next door... So I make sure all the fluids check and everything else before leaving the lot. That's how I remember next door's car issues before I left the lot with my Tacoma.. Which is why I told the dealer, make sure the fluids are there and bolts/nuts are good.

True, then the steak purveyor can argue with the cow as he sees fit.

Your story reminds me of dealing with GM a long time ago, the shell games the dealers played with me trying to duck out of it

Do like how they sell their cars. Wish other manufacturers would follow suit, so over the salesman dance. I mean really, what do they do? There is the back and forth running to the sales manager, they don’t even do the final paperwork. It is like you’re getting a commission for what?? Wasting my time?

It is great. No BS. No ADMs, no discounts, no ripping off elderly people etc. Everyone just pays the same price and it is first come first served. Zero games. All paperwork via text or email. Order exactly what you want, they keep you updated on delivery, show up and drive away. We loved buying ours. Too bad Tesla’s suck or we’d still own one.

    That would be awesome!

Looking to buy a travel rig, nothing in their lineup will work for me unfortunately. Yeah the Cyber Truck looks like a hot mess. Rivians look interesting, at least could put a normal-ish camper on it. Leery of traveling long distance in it though, trying to find chargers out in the boonies. Probably be ok with careful planning, however I hate planning, like flipping coins at cross roads sorta thing.

Yes, you’re confirming what I said. A manufacturer sponsored transportation clause in the warranty. Identical to what Toyota offers. The manufacturer funds the vehicle.

This whole topic was started by the expectation that the dealer should
provide a loaner on their dime for warranty work that’s funded by the manufacturer. The manufacturer not only pays for the warranty work but also pays for a vehicle, making a dealer loaner a moot point.
