That’s annoying. Is it popping at idle? Will it rev at all?

Played with the air/fuel mixture jet this morning, same thing. Idles great, will not rev, unless you have the choke on.

Check your valves. Sounds oddly like valvetrain issues.

Oh, hmmm. China clone? I usually have good luck with those.

I did have an OE carb do that to me and it was plugged up inside the jet tube. Who knows, could be cast wrong or a piece of sand lodged in there.

Exactly what I was thinking as well. If it only did it with the new carb and it will only rev with the choke on my next guess assuming the valves are in spec is jetting. I have had good luck with Chinese carbs with the exception of float height, and sometimes jets. Now that I think about it I guess I’ve never had one come through with the floats set right.

I’ve always had good luck with the cheap carbs, not this one! May throw in the towel and take it somewhere.

I guess the question is, why did you put a carb on it?

Second time this one was leaking gas through the overflow tube. I hoped a new carb would fix it for 5ish years.

Oh no kidding. I’d take the needle/seat out of the old one and put the one from the new carb in. Assuming they’re both Chinese carbs. Usually that leak is just a float height or needle issue

Passenger side deconstruction almost complete. Just need to remove the CV axle and the tie rod assembly

Old one is original, rebuilt once already, and I’d thought about that!

First, let me say THANK YOU! I really appreciate the recommendation and it really seems like a solid unit if I'm digging up the pad anyway.

Secondly, YIKES!! :spending::spending::spending::spending::spending:. About twice as much as the first one I posted about.... Now if I start up a business that supports the improvements I need to do to the property and can write it off.....

I think I started the lift talk a few month ago when I tackled my rusted out power steering lines. On the ground on top of my extra thick tarp specially bought tarp (for laying on the ground doing this kind of work) with the driver's side jacked on on a tiny but durable jack stand. I doubled up the tarp to cushion my back against the gravel driveway and bump up going into the garage.

On a positive note, got the GT350 out for a Labor Day cruise through the White Mountains with my wife.

Went down through Crawford Notch on Rt 302, to the seasonally opened Bear Notch Rd (I asked the condition on the NH Redditt and folks told me it was good and repaved a couple of years ago ). They didn't lie. The one pic below is of questionable quality but I wanted to get some of the mountains in the background. My wife says it looks like a Pacer . It looks shiny so that's all that matters, right?

Bear Notch Rd is twisty and the speed limit is 50 tops, 35 on the curves. I don't drive 'er as aggressively with passengers so it was pretty sedate with some 2nd gear redlines (8250 rpm) just to exercise it out. While we were parked there, we could hear at least one motorcycle coming up the road. I didn't get the make but they must've been going a 100 if not more. 2 of them just having some fun on a nice holiday Sunday.

Bear Notch leads to the famous Kancamagus Highway, the Kanc, which we took to Lincoln for a late lunch. We stopped at one of the overlooks just at the highest point (2,855 ft) and before we even parked, two guys were coming over with "what color" "what kind of car is that" and all sort of other questions. Nice guys, happy to spread the word. My wife gets a kick.

Idiots on the other hand were the dick who parked right next to us at the restaurant in a beat up circa 1990s Suburban, in a space that's wasn't even a parking spot, and the asshat in a huge-from-my-vantage-point 2500 with MA plates tailgating me as if to challenge.. Right blinker slow down as soon as the passing lane started and it took him a bit to catch on but he finally passed. I'm at a point where I don't need to prove anything. And no, I do not have anything against Chevy owners in general. Just those that deserve it.

    Life's short, have fun.

I agree. I won't rotate tires without mine front and back.

I'd love to put a 2 post in my garage. Did the measurements and it'd fit... kinda. I'd only get about 3ft of lift though. Seems a nice set of tallish jack stands is more suitable for now

The lift is almost 12 feet tall, the ceiling is 11' 1"... :pout:

Fortunately the roof trusses run across the bay so taking the :sawzall: to the ceiling made it fit, I built an insulated box around it.

^^^ That was pretty horrible as 40 year old fiberglass insulation & decades of attic dirt came down with the wood... :crapstorm:

The safety shut off bar was easy to lower with some all-thread.

For most vehicles the reduced height isn't a problem, the GMC truck we are currently working on would be more convenient if it could go the next lock - still beats the heck out of working on the floor. ;)

Okay late to the party but a good story. Lived in the mountains by Yosemite during our first assistant pastoral position. We were PO (couldn’t even afford the O or the R) I had found an old lawnmower at the dump and had just rebuilt it and was going to make the first cut on the new lawn we had planted. We saw the storm clouds rolling in so I was in a hurry. Made the first pass when lightning hit our service cable 10’ away. As it did I dove under the porch..(knee jerk self preservation tactic) Just at that moment a mono wind picked up our 30’ antenna mast and javelined it 3 feet into the ground right where I was standing behind the mower. My wife witnessed the whole thing through the front window. Call it what you will but I call it a miracle. Had lightning not struck our service cable I wouldn’t be sharing this story.

I’m calling it a night in the garage.Pulled the CV axle. That thing was toast. Figured I throw in the control arms and coil over to see how it looks. Installed a new passenger side headlight assembly as well. Tomorrow I’m going to weld on the limit strap bracket and hopefully get everything assembled on this side. And if the wife doesn’t make me do too much yard work I might start taking apart the other side of the Lexus.

Oh yeah!!! I also worked on my culinary skills this evening.
