i get about 250-270 a tank. I have a reg cab 5 speed. My first tank was about 16mmpg cause i was shifting at 3grand rather then ~2grand. I shift sooner now which makes me go slower but it also makes me drive better since im not hauling ass around. hope this helps you on our decision. oh and hauling about hauling stuff, hauled my yz125 and yz250 today. i feel no difference between my dads tacoma which is an 05 v6 DC and mine. happy you're choosing a tacoma! best of luck tomorrow!

Ok...2007/4cyl/5spd/4x4 AC (stock except AFE Pro Dry Drop In Air Filter)

I'm in South Central Alaska, so I think my climate is similar to you, but I'm not positive on that.

Tire size 245/75/16 for both summer and winter tires.

US Gallons and I only use Shell or Chevron Regular Unleaded

Best MPG was 23.5 MPG (hwy) on summer tires (Goodyear Wrangler SR/A)

Worst MPG was 18.9 on winter tires (Bridgestone Blizzaks)

I'm getting from 375 to 400 miles a tank. Even through the coldest period this winter I regularly came out in the 20 MPG / 400 miles a tank range.

I haven't gotten overly scientific with this..no Scan Gauge or anything; but I do reset my trip meter and check the MPG close to every time I fill up. Generally I shift around 2500 RPMs, but I'm not overly anal about that either, if I need to wind it out to merge with traffic or whatever, I do. Climbing hills on the hwy I'll drop it into 4th to maintain speed instead of letting it load up in 5th...there's virtually no power in 5th...think of it as an overdrive to maintain hwy speed on level ground.

Bought the truck May 2010 w/ 23K miles. I've got just over 42K now.

    There ya' go FWIW.

I keep track of every tank that goes through my truck, both with scan gauge and calculating off the numbers from my odo and the pump.

Average is around 10.5-11.5L/100km (20.5-22.5 MPG) with around 40% city and 60% winding/hilly hwy (Sea to Sky Hwy in BC).

    Worst tank was 12.5L/100KM (18.8MPG).
Best tank was around 9.3L/100KM (25.3MPG).
Best half tank while trying to drive as efficiently as possible (kept speeds low, coasted when possible, etc) was around 8.5L/100KM (27.5MPG).

These are actual calculations made from pump and odometer readings- not just estimates.

Truck was purchased in October so most tanks have been run in cold temps with winter gas.

I'm pretty happy with the fuel consumption and look forward to even better numbers once I get rid of the MTs. ScanGauge has helped a lot- really teaches you how a slight change in driving habit (and this is not necessarily driving any slower) can save gas.

Thanks for the big breakdown. Great numbers too. All Im buying for my truck is a scanguage, tonneau cover, fiter/2nd delete, and maybe a grill. Keeping most stock for a few years with it being my new daily. Those numbers would be sweet

Ya a scanguage is a no brainer to me after seeing and hearing all the results. Even cutting your mpg 5% saves you hundreds of dollars a year.

Exactly...that's what convinced me to put it on my list....that hundreds a year could easily become a thousand or better if fuel prices keep going in their current direction!

I was with him until this last part...25 to 27 MPG on heavier/bigger tires than I'm running...gotta give that a shot! Maybe this old dog can learn a new trick or two from a darn computer! [IMG] [IMG]
