My dealer doesn't offer loaners but they offer the rentals though.

Toyota did provide [Dundee Toyota] a Sequoia when I took in my Taco for the frame treatment. I think I had it a week [5 days]. They got a little pissy when I told them I would bring it back Saturday morning after they called and said my Taco was done Thursday but I reminded them that I actually work too and I couldn't bring it back until the weekend. And they did acknowledge I told them that when I picked it up and they agreed to it.

They were about 45 minutes to an hour away.

Lexus still does this, when we get my wife's serviced I get a loaner even for a tire rotation (that I can do myself, lol).

I had a similar discussion with a dealership. They kept my vehicle for 2 days and were puzzled why I didn't just randomly take a day off work to deal with a problem I didn't create on a timeline I didn't set at a location I didn't pick. "oh, so you can't bring the loaner back until Friday?" No, because like you, I have a job that I don't have unlimited paid time off from to deal with problems.

Same here re the frame in MA, but the loaner vehicle was part of that settlement in general so they had to. In my case they were footing the bill for 3 months almost to the day for another vehicle.

If you don’t mind coming back to the thread to describe how that process looks I’d be interested to know

I have a friend who can do the tire change/rotation for me. He is a mechanic.

Update: Too early to speak to dealership but spoke with Toyota. Regarding rental. They offer up to $60 per day for a rental but of course I have to pay for the rental and then submit the receipts to Toyota. Local rental for a cheap car is $1100 for the month plus another $700 if I want to insure it. Looks like I'm walking...not in this retirees budget at all.

$1800/month is $60/day, so as long as you have space to put that on a credit card, you’ll be reimbursed before the bill is due. As long as the weekly rate is pretty much the same you should be ok in case you don’t end up needing the whole month or the second month.

I do mine on my truck, cause I wont let them do touch my Volks, the wife's RX is a family hauler, besides being PPF'd and ceramic coated it gets the basic stuff and let them do it. I was just making a point that I can get a loaner for basic service at Lexus for the day.

Also, do you really need the rental insurance? Your personal insurance should extend to rentals…

I understand your point. I was saying that my friend do small/simple stuff for me... Any major work that needs to be done (for example, engine rebuilt or transmission), then I will take it to Toyota. I have 2 sets of wheels which means one sets for street uses, other sets for off road which I don't care about scratches on them.

I'm going to wait to see what the dealership has to say as far as an ETA. I'm sure they won't know for a while.

I've always gotten the insurance because if I total that car I just walk away. If I do it through mine I will have that claim on my record and my personal insurance will definitely go up more that the insurance was. I have never needed to rent longer than a week. My insurances went up 40% in the last year like everyone else.

It will but I have always gotten it when renting (only has been short term) from rental company just in case of an accident you walk away with no responsibilities. If it happened under my insurance I would now have a claim and skyrocketing rate increase as if the last years increase wasn't enough.

Very Frustrating OP, not sure I could have kept my cool. I know blowing up gets you nowhere, but sick wife and a brand new truck failing would've put me over. I hope your wife is feeling better and you get this resolved quickly and to your liking.
