15% off...I paid $209.75 without Core Return. Read thousands of reviews on Interstate Megatron MTP 27f,DieHard Ultimate Gold 27f,Everstart Maxx 24f,Duralast Gold 27f. I spoke to a Interstate delivery guy.
He told me that all of the batteries I was looking at even the Interstate battery was manufactured at the same plant...they would load the particular label of battery then run so many..then stop line and switch labels and start the line back up all of them are Made by Johnson Control battery (They supposedly make over 80% of batteries in the USA.)

This Duracell battery I bought today is manufactured by EastPenn batteries.

Im taking a chance that it's a good battery, it gets good reviews..so I'll see if it indeed is....I'll post back periodically to let you guys know.

Coulda bought a battery probably made in same plant with same specs for 1/2 that price with at least as good a warranty and dealers/stores all over the country ie Costco or Walmart. I wouldn't pay double for a fancy label on a battery hidden under the hood.

EASTPENN MFG. Is made in America and supposedly make reliable batteries....the Interstate,Duralast & DieHard were anywhere from $276 to $240..The Everstart Maxx was $169...I'm good with the price of $209.

Uhh, most/all batteries sold in stores/shops (not on line) in US and Canada are made in US in 3 US factories. Pay double if you want. It's your money. I'd use it towards some good food or drink.

Johnson Controls sold their battery business in the first half of 2019.

The battery business is now a separate company called Clarios.

That Interstate driver is at least five years out of date. Consider that when evaluating any of his information.

I'm too tired to start a p..... match. Don't know why you need 840 CCA in Tennessee. Don't even need that in Canada. Good luck with yours. I'm outa here.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Sam's sells the non ultra version for almost $70 cheaper with same 36mo warranty and specs.

I've used Duracell in a couple vehicles and they've lasted above their 36mo warranty so I guess they're ok. But like @canuck guy said, we don't get a lot of weather extremes in SW VA/ NE TN area. Not sure if you're running power-demanding stuff like winch, fridge though... $200 is AGM territory at least at Sam's for Duracell.

I have been using batteries made by East Penn for over 30 years, never a problem.

    Made in Pennsylvania :oldglory:

I plan on adding a couple of 12"subs and amp.
I've also added a 32" light bar and 4"x5" spot lights. I don't drive it as much as I need to it will sometimes set for a week or 2, so I figure this battery will work for my needs.

EastPenn from what I have read make reliable batteries and are family owned....

Is 840 CCA Overkill probley but IMO you can never have enough CCA right? lol

    30 years..nice
What's the average life of those that you've used?
I know that the Duracell Ultra Gold and Deka Ultimate are made by EastPenn and have same CCA and battery casing..most people are saying their getting 4 to 6 years out of these two batteries...hoping to get the same.

In my experience East Penn products have been better than Johnson Controls (or whatever they currently are)

However on a cost/life basis, for my current needs, the Costco Interstates work fine.

At my work, in a forklift they would usually make 4-5 years. A forklift is a miserable life for any battery between the rough ride and being started so many times a day. Generally a forklift battery will just die with no real warning - you park it and then the next morning -- :bananadead:.

We also had an electric material tug that used six golf cart batteries, the unit was run almost continuously 7-9 hours per day, in that service I changed the batteries out at about 3 years & 10 months. These batteries rarely "died", they just wouldn't have enough capacity to run an entire shift anymore.
Water was checked/added every 2 weeks.

In a lighter material lift (again with golf cart batteries) they would last almost forever as long as the water was kept topped up.

For my personal vehicles I can't remember a DEKA battery ever having to be replaced, any one I have installed has stayed with the vehicle as long as I have had it. :notsure:

Unfortunately my local DEKA vendor closed this year so I put a Duracell from Sam's in the new to us Subaru I fixed up for my wife - hopefully we will run this car for a very long time and see how long the battery lasts too.

Small world...I have operated Forklifts for 30 years now..
I unload/ receive Truck loads of steel, Tires,Aluminum, and run supply calls to 70 welders...
We use to deal with EastPenn for our battery needs for Dump Trailers...We've recently switch to Interstate...
We're getting more returns with Interstate,If we got a bad battery from EastPenn it was unusual.
