Yeah, guess I didn’t understand the whole drama thing, simply comparing trucks. Dunno, I am Gen-X borderline Boomer, perhaps I am insensitive without realizing it?? We get chastised for being heartless fucks. *shrugg*

Yeah the Tundra looks be the biggest POS currently, might hurt Toyota bad, lost what little interest I had in it.

Did join one of the F150 forums, responses are as expected, dump Toyota and get a Ford.

I'm straight up, Gen X...born in June 1966.

Been on forums since 2011 when I was 44, just retired from 25 years of USAF active duty and apparently in midlife crisis for buying a crotch rocket as a first bike! lol (Family thought me to be in midlife mode)

Anyhow, what I've learned about forums has shaped me into the way I reply to threads...and how I react to rebuttals.

I enjoy reading other's perspective whether it be here or elsewhere.

Reactions is what throws things off course in threads sometimes, which I tend to become a spectator...but your Gen-X/borderline Boomer comment is a subject discussed at my current job...I happen to be the youngest in the group of 3 personnel at 58! lol (The lead just turned 65 and the next in line is 59 1/2)

Anyhow, I'm gonna go HS yearbook reference on you..."Don't ever change!"

I was at Toyota dealer last week. 24 SR5 and a Sport in the showroom. Both $46k. Head scratcher. I guess maybe how they are configured? I didn't compare the builds - just looked at price. Interior continues to grow on me. They also had new LC next to 24 4Runner Pro. Both $59k. Runner may be showing its age but more useable rear seat and cargo space. I cant comment on the ride quality of LC. just looked at it. Curious how they position the new Runner vs LC.

Dealer here had this SR5 at $49K, other than them slapping big tires and nicer wheels on it, and couple port add-on’s didn’t seem all that special. Interior wasn’t too bad, but felt busy compared to my 3rd Gen, didn’t care for the seat fabric, the diamond plate pattern looked cheesy and cheap. The whole truck feels more American than it does Japanese. Overall not a bad looking truck. Not sure if it is worth the cost of admission though. After comparing specs to an OR, believe the OR is the better buy, for not too much more get some nicer options, like that 14” touch screen, which isn’t available in the SR5.

Oh, forums are a funny thing, good source of information but also filled with a bunch of high school nonsense. Dunno, guess I can come off a bit abrasive without realizing it, and I apologize to anyone if I did.

Have changed a bunch over the years, definitely not the same person I was in my 20s, “the one thing that is constant, and that is change”

I try not think one generation is better than the other, we are simply different. And all bring various traits to the table, some good, some bad. One thing I learned from the younger gen is, enjoy life while you can. A little envious that they are a bit more carefree than I was at their age, all I did was work, and they seem to avoid it as much as possible. Work is definitely overrated that is for sure.

Was looking at the LC too, after a bit of sticker shock, they did do the heritage of the lineage a solid. Has an older Land Cruiser vibe to it, while the 100s and 200s never did to me. Reminds me of the 60/62 era vehicles. Did like the LC much better than the Taco, interior felt more polished and refined. They are definitely going after a different demographic. Nostalgic old cranky SOBs with a disposable income. I would consider one, but need a truck for a camper.

I posted this somewhere here in TW.

My younger brother needed a new vehicle ASAP and wanted a mid-sized truck. He went in with Tacoma big #1 as he likes my 3rd gen, my cousin's 3rd gen, and my father 2019 Tundra - been great trucks. After his research, test drives, pricing out/quotes, etc.... - he went with the 2024 Chevy Colorado Z71 for high $38/39k.

So far, he loves it and when I saw it, it is a very sharp looking truck. We will see how the Colorado is long-term

Have been seeing more and more running around town, did give them a glance at the dealership, nice trucks, but no 6’ bed option scratches them off the list. Unsure why GM and Ford ditched the 6’, while over at the Toyota dealerships has about half of their inventory with 6’ beds. A 6’ bed is barely enough for my needs, and could use one a little longer. Another reason why I started looking at 1/2 Tons.

My next truck, which is years away as my 2017 ~93k has been great, will be a full size with a larger bed. I want/need the larger bed and towing capacity. I mentioned this to my brother as one of my gripes about a mid-size, but made no difference to him

All of my Tacomas and pickups from Toyota have been great, however life changes, and while I could make the Tacoma work, feel like I could use a little bigger truck, have been on the cusps for last few years now. Probably should just buy a 1 Ton and be done with it.

I'm anywhere between the Maverick and F-350 I think the Maverick would be fun around town and it's car like easy for others to get in, I would still want a BOF truck preferably with selected. I 4x4 I like the XC Tacoma haven't driven any 4G so my opinion could change but probably not. I also would like a RCSB, so I think GM on this one kind of like the looks over Ford, GM comes in a tic cheaper or it can. I like the F-150, but I probably would go with another 1/2 the Ford be a Super Duty.

Yeah could go any direction, go super simple then again some extra comfort/room wouldn’t be bad either. Have to remind myself, what is going be doable if I am holed up for a couple days or week because of foul weather. This going to be a long distance on the road for 2-3 months at time travel rig. Maverick isn’t quite enough, the gas mileage sure would be nice however.

Trying not to go with a 3/4-1 Ton, wouldn’t have to worry about payload then, unfortunately for that payload the ride is horrible on washboard roads. Not really interested in tossing a bunch of money at the suspension either. Midsizes and 1/2 Tons ride very well to me.

Wow! So the biggest POS on the road currently is still pretty damn nice. Thanks for letting me know I needed to hear that.

Toyota has a long history of reliability.Ford/GM/Ram do not. Yes,with the all new Tacoma, it's too soon to tell if it will be as reliable as the older models. But I would rather take my chances with a Toyota over the others, which are also unproven as to long term value.

You are not wrong, my wife says to stick with Toyota, she isn’t happy with me looking at other brands. She is “like” Forrrrrd…reeeeeaaally!? Dude c’mon. Get your head out of your ass.

Still want to see the XC in person and see if I can make it work, my 1st Gen that I had worked for years, not sure why it wouldn’t. All the stuff I keep in the cab, could be moved into the camper.

Rode in a 24 F-250 RC the other day it felt smooth from the passenger seat people complain about the rough ride, I don't think this one had the heavier springs day in day out it might get rough, the truck didn't feel like it wanted to go straight. I saw a current gen RS6 Avant a little while ago in that deep blue shade, yes I want that now, don't think I can spend $130k on one.

Definitely agree with all underlined words.

Although, I'm the youngest at work and the older gentlemen always complain about these younger Airman (USAF) and their care-free life...which spills into their work!

Our Site Lead even suggested I go back in as an E9/Chief and straighten out these Airman.

    I done my time!

And this generation has a totally different life with all the technology.

I am the oldest at work, but a few are just younger than me gen-x’ers, the others are in their 30s. I am certainly the grumpy old man of the bunch, trying to change my ways and be open to new ideas.

Oh yeah they do, we had the opportunity to see it change drastically, they don’t know any better. 80s are super popular right now, a lot them wish they go to that decade, tell them no you don’t the 80s were horrible! Don’t know how lucky you kids have it now. The pranks we played would get us grounded, you younger gen YouTube it and can make money off it. What a time to be alive!

Ha! right!? Definitely a different demographic over on the F150 forum, my initial impression it is way more boomerish on there. Made me feel younger, couple few are talking about needed the extra space for grandkids, something I don’t have to worry about. Maybe I lean more gen-x than boomer…ha!
