I’m pretty confused about the approach, breakover, and departure angles on the off-road trims. The internet and this forum are all over the place and of course Toyota decided not to include those numbers in their spec sheet. Anyone know? I hear the PRO has better numbers than the TH — is this because it sits higher or because it has less armor / no proper rock rails hanging down? What about the OR numbers?

There is a reason why Toyota didn't include them: they are worse than the outgoing models. Even the ground clearance number suddenly morphed into "running clearance" and the recent Trailhunter thread with its Subaru-like 9 inches of ground clearance at the rear diff tells you why.

A few degrees here or there doesn't really matter on the trail because you aren't whipping out your protractor when you see a wall. Things change when you air down and are loaded up, flying solo vs gung ho group, etc. I know I ain't going to do real, real crawling with my truck configured as is. Maybe trails rated to 7? Anything further I get a beater, or something like this:

Sucks. I got the TH which apparently has less clearance than the PRO. Is this because of the under armor or do the springs sit lower?

I'm no expert, but the TH has the rear diff skid plate (maybe 1/2" loss) and also weighs ~500Lbs more than the Pro.

TR, when I get my truck back from window tinting I will drop the diff plate and do another measure. Also, measure the pumpkin diameter.

Thanks all. Couple points. It only weighs 260lb more. Also, overall height is the same or nearly same as PRO, indicating the same lift (and perhaps stiffer springs to counter weight difference). But I’m super confused by the height range shown on the TH (what is the 0.3” difference):IMG_5055.jpg

Watching a video of PRO/TH side by side. Exact same height. I truly think the clearance delta is purely gear/skids. I don’t mind that at all.

Don't worry about such little numbers.

You're not going to get out and measure obstacles when on trail anyway. Well, maybe you will, but most won't. :D

So go till she rubs and then back off if needed.

Taller tires are the 'real' fix, in terms of raising the axle lines.

Why not just drive it till you find a problem, then fix the problem? Most people waste a lot of $ and time on 'but if I' rather than the actual experience of something that needs attention.

Same reason I bought such a stupid truck. It’s fun.

But still… I wouldn’t mind keeping tires smaller for torque and fuel economy etc
