I've been meaning to build a seat delete deck for years, but I had a "good enough" setup with dewalt tough boxes and my mechanic mat. I got off my ass today and threw this together with 1/2" plywood, a chunk of 2x4 and simpson strong ties. Now it's "good enough" but bolted in place and way more solid for my big puppers.

I bolted it in place with the seat belt bolts.

I added the 2x4 as a cross brace, only because I didn't use 3/4" plywood and only had 1/2" laying around. I just didn't want the middle to bow.

And then I added the simpson corner braces just because I had previously split the laminate in a couple spots on the vertical plywood.

Everything has a place and everything is in its place.

And I stuck the mechanic's rug back over the top of it for the pooch's comfort.

The goodest boy I built this for (and his other best friend)

Not bad for a free scrap plywood piece and $13 in hardware.

Finally got around to welding on cam tab gussets. I somehow didn't notice before but it looks to me like the previous owner took the LCA off at some point and had to cut the front cam bolt out due to a seized cam bolt sleeve. For whatever reason, they reinstalled the LCA with the cut sleeve still in the bushing, and just used another set of the rear cam bolts that are smaller in diameter to pass through the bushing with the sleeve still seized inside. Total hack job.

Figured I would teach myself how to weld so that I could install the cam tab gussets, and while my welds do look ugly as sin, I'm sure they'll at least hold as well as the three tack welds on the original tabs.

I also preemptively ordered new LCAs and cam bolts to install at the same time, since I figured I would have to cut out the old LCAs. Doesn't hurt to have new bushings and ball joints either.

Next project on the list is to install the ECGS bushing. I probably should have waited til the new bushing came in so that I could install it while I had the LCA off but I got a bit impatient.

If you have factory fogs/switch it's pretty much plug and play... per the instructions you'll need to reuse the aiminig screw off your old fog housings.. For the optional backlight feature i tapped into the dtrl's with these.[IMG]

I'll eventually take mine in for repair and repaint. I purchased it used with a light wrinkle on the corner closest to the driver mirror and the inner skeleton is peeling off from the backside, which gives off a rattle sound.

Seeing the finished product is one thing. Seeing the amount of work it takes to get there is when you actually appreciate that finished product.

Good luck with that! Sounds not fun to repair.
Yes, black sand pearl. I used a spray gun and single stage paint. I had to strip it down to mostly metal. Then etch prime. Turned out good enough for me.
The clear was almost completely gone. Had to do the same to the roof a year or so ago.
