Looks like it's behind that trim and no you don't want to place anything in front of it.

I wouldn't recommend it if you don't want issues, they are calibrated. Any foreign matter in front of it or disturbing the sensor can set a DTC.

Yea such is the case with ADAS, everything is calibrated and pretty sensitive to any deviations.

Alot of stuff requires specialized targets and alot of time to re-calibrate, it's getting stupid with the amount of ADAS sensors and stuff on a vehicle anymore.

Yes. I need to wrap it in foil so I can smoke it and get it tender.

I actually just think it’s the ugliest part of the truck but given all these wise responses I won’t mess with it :)

the sensors are the round eyes that you see on the bumper, they are not behind the bumper. you can take them out wrap the bumper and installed again, the round hole you will have make sure the wrap is tight and do it slow to prevent tear the wrap.

I've not messed with the BSM, but I have messed with various aftermarket mods to the forward sensor. And I can say that on that one at least, it can tolerate vinyl, BUT it needs to be perfect. A single air bubble, speck of trapped dust, or any layer thickness imperfection: it will "see" the difference and get confused by it. Its basically the equivalent of putting on dark sunglasses versus putting on dark sunglasses with a single scratch. Now all you see is the scratch and you'll throw an error code over it.

I'm betting the BSM array will be similar. I would not mess with covers unless I was confident that my color wrapping job could be done with absolute perfection.

Same here. It’s such a grotesque piece.

:smack:The "circled" item is what the OP is asking.
The Blind Spot Monitor System sensor is indeed behind it.
One can see the Ultrasonic sensor clearly, part of the Parking Support Alert System & Parking Support Brake System.

Where do all of these fancy illustrations come from? I'd buy this book

Also, one might try to put a sticker on it to see how it reacts? If no problem, then wrap away!

I doubt painting it would leave any air bubbles...
