Tonight seemed like a good time to get started on the small deck rebuild that I wanted to be done with by June. I'm a bit behind schedule. I got down about 6 " before I stuck paydirt.. I'm guessing that this is where the masons were mixing the cement to build the cinder block basement walls and they dumped a left over batch before everything got backfilled/graded.

an hour of digging around the mess and dragging it out of the hole, I went for another hour before I ran out of steam. I'm right around 20" deep. I need to go to 48". I'm too old for this shit...

I will work at it tomorrow for a while. The goal is to get to depth and stuff the sonotube into the hole and get a footer poured by the weekend, then the post can go up the following week. Then demo of the old small deck then demo of my savings account as I buy materials.

Rugby gets a 'goodbye' treat whenever I leave, so I smuggled him a few Salmon flavored squeezie treats.

    Best wishes to you, Chuck.

Ughh, sorry to hear this. Kinda tough to make decisions when they bring stuff up last minute.
Catheters are no fun, and who knew the variety of instruments that can be inserted in you via THAT route. I’m 7 months into treatments for bladder cancer so appreciate some of what you are going through. I love one of your big concerns is having a caregiver for you cats! Fingers crossed for you.

Good morning everybody, have a great Wednesday. We had our first rain in weeks yesterday afternoon, more in the forecast through Friday. We need it.

I ran out of base molding yesterday so I fixed that. I needed 14’ to finish the bathroom so I picked up 160’ to teach myself a lesson. Hopefully that’s going to be enough to finish everything.

I have found that I would rather have/pay for extra than run short, within reason. I have 2 bundles of shingles for the roof incase of damage or repair, installed the roof almost 20 years ago o_O

The worst part is I’m having to wait for paint to dry I’m putting a coat on first. Installing caulking and painting again but it looks great when finished. But it’s not a fast process. image.jpg
