Unsprung Weight Add (Bigger Tires)

Yes yes, the age old unsprung weight discussion. I add it here because the options to run bigger tires will generally require a much heavier tire than the 40 lb stock tires most of these trucks come with.

Anyone add 34-35 inch 60lb+ tires? Let us know the hit on performance, road feel, MPG etc, including whether you’re running hybrid or not.

Im considering 34” Nitto, Toyo, Falken and BFG tires. They range from 58lb to 68lb. That’s 72-112 lb of additional unsprung weight. That’s a lot.

curious if anyone has thoughts

 

What tire came with your Trailhunter?

 

265/70/18 Goodyear Territory RT — 32.6” and 40.1lb (according to what I found online). It’s a sad tire and similar to what my 22 PRO came with. Good road manners but weak off-road capability.
