If i remember right, there was a little slush on the ground that morning near our house but main roads were fine, so I took the grom, because worse case scenario i stand up. it was supposed to be sunny and all melt up, but then it didn’t and started snowing more on the way home. I didn’t have a front fender so everything was spraying off the tire and road into my face and chest.

that’s one hell of an expensive air filter..

I remember back when I'd go out on my ATV no matter what the weather... in Jeans and a cotton sweatshirt, lmao. 30 degrees and snowing and thrown off the quad into a creek... and freezing my butt off for the ride home... no clue what I was thinking or how I survived that shit, lol.

I'll probably be one of the guys to leave the bike in the shed on a trickle charger all winter...

Nothing wrong with the 6 oh.. till people tune/turn ‘em up and didn’t do the added/needed engine upgrades. That’s where the problem was. Stock ran fine all day long. We had many in work trucks for years.

Yes, it took a few years to iron out the upgrades, but if you did them, no issues.

Yes, there were some issues in stock form. But again, once fixed… all good.

You gotta remember.. most people go the cheap route on a mod instead of spending the coin and doing it right. Human nature at it’s finest.

After a bit of time and annoyance because of the tusk dual sport kit not being honestly that great on instructions and certain things just not being done right... The bike is done... I gotta get the front brakes bled since I added a brake sensor but other then that the bike is ready for my trip this weekend!

Who wants to take bets that my tail light will fall off lol. Didn't wanna use bolts so I used 3m... Wait and see haha

Have a pic? Tailights I've been looking at the bolts are actually studs coming from the rear, can't see them at all. Trying to visualize what you're dealing with. Definitely don't trust tape lol, there's already enough car trim and cheap kids using it for wings and louvers etc and having it blow off on the highways.

right on. Bicycle commuted year round in Chicago for 13 years. Only missed maybe a month of days over those years. Active snow storm with a foot of accumulation: just not possible.

‘enjoyment’ is purely subjective. Some people ‘enjoy’ running a marathon. The challenge. Putting yourself in the position to feel the burn others will never know. Some people find the challenge of such things to be the whole point.

Chrome Courier FTW! All I’ve used on bicycles or motos for 20+ years(yeah. I’m old) . So much better for me than backpacks.

the 3M VSB tape is some serious shit. Still, I suspect trail use will turn those lights into missles.

i can after work yes but im trying to not have anything stick up on the plastics this go around.

also with the talk of 3m tape you do know a lot of new cars have the same stuff to hold trim and certain aero bits on right? if done right 3m tape will not let go... but a lot of people do put crap stuff on or dont prep the surface at all or use the applicator to help it stick. ive used it on rc car and other things and its held fine lol. the main issue i dont trust it on this one is the brake light plastic is well cut to fit and it doesnt exactly fit my rear plastics well at all.
after work i can if i have time lol. gotta go get new tires on the truck, bleed the front brakes on the bike, pack for my trip, go out to dinner with a friend. then sleep at some point haha

Auto industry OEM uses wildly different spec tape than what a typical consumer pics up of the shelf, but yes, aware it is used. My point would line up similar to the previous conversation on the 6.0 engines and cheap parts causing reliability issues. Not targeting you in that way of course, but I would also doubt that a m/c company selling universal parts would have the best tape kicking around.

Hard to get a feel from the pic, but I think from googling it looks like you need the bolts to go through the rear fender, top side? If so, hard to get something clean like you said. Is there any of your rear frame close to the plastic kit from Tusk? Could add in some fancy zip ties if so and keep the clean look from the top.

yes but you can buy nicer 3m tape it just cost more and its crazy sticky and last well this stuff wasnt that but i have used it before and its the same stuff they use on cars when being built new but i didnt have time to order that lol so cheap stuff will work.

correct you would need to drill holes and put a bolt and nut on it through the plastics which im trying to avoid. also i have no frame back there lol thats one reason why i wanted the r model my bike will weigh less then the sm and dual sport version since i dont have the the rear frame section its just all plastic in the back

Well the only other non bolted / rivnut / zip tie method I can think of would be magnets lol. Or plastic weld it to the fender, though I'm sure you're after something that can be undone easily.

i actually thought about magnets tbh but dont have any small super strong ones to try lol. and yes something that can be undone easily since nothing on my bike has been modified (minus a broken clutch lever lol) everything atm is reversible to go back to stock if need be. because you never know what life might bring you lol

Replacement fender looks pretty cheap if you did decide you needed to modify one for a more solid fit. But, depending on the "tape", it's possibly stronger than the plastic it's adhered to.
