    WOW!

Yesterday I received a call from the dealer I bought my 2022 OR asking me if I am interested in trading it in. Told the lady that I will keep my current one until the end of time due to the mechanical issues and price of the new one.

Is this a normal Toyota dealer practice or they are trying to move inventory?

    Update:
Traded the white OR yesterday for a ‘25 Sport

    Yeah.
I get mailers all the time, emails occasionally, and have once gotten a call. If they have new inventory and need used inventory (preferably certified pre-owned), they will try to get you to trade.

This is pretty common in South Florida. Dealers are desperate to make sales. Cold calling is their solution, but I'm not sure it really works.

Also I am very jealous of you owning a Tacoma in Puerto Rico. Have you been to Cerro de Punta? I made it to the paved road in front, but we didn't want to get our poor Bronco Sport rental car stuck...haha

Well the last time I went was on a Humvee for a comm exercise. But I have drive to other beautiful places up in the mountains. There is even a vineyard if you believe me.
Also due to the road conditions SUVs and pickups are the best option.

You should have gone up with the Bronco, the road up there is not bad just steep. Or just hiked there. The view on a clear day is AWESOME!

My dealer sends me an email like this every couple of weeks.i keep hitting Delete until I see a discount on a trim I am interested in

    Screenshot_20240905-075817.png

Maybe I should email them back and send them a picture of a 2024 SR5. They obviously can't find one.

this is not new, and it’s not a Toyota or a Tacoma thing, many dealers across all brands do it- they have record of a sale and that is a lead.

It's tedious, time consuming, and every salesperson hates it, but yes, it absolutely works..

Dealer has a legal right to harass you, even if you are on the FED NO-CALL list, since you had a relationship with them in X years (X=? I forget).

After my purchase, I was getting calls from sales people, as others above. Blocking them would not work since they used their own phones sometimes. I called the dealer and told them to put me on their private NO-CALL list and THAT WORKED.
I still get maintenance promo emails but those are fine and easily blocked with email settings. But I mostly let them thru. They are not that numerous.
About once every 6 months I get a trade/buy email that I also let thru since they are not numerous and actually entertaining/informative.
I have never had a problem with texts and that is probably coupled with my success getting them to stop calling.
Oh, and I get snail mail promos about twice a year. Straight into the round filing cabinet.

The real annoyance in SiriousXM. I want nothing to do with them and you can't stop their emails (at least one every 3 days) with UNSUBSCRIBE etc. I did call them once and got their BS claiming I would have to pay for a service I never requested since it came with the truck. I said try it and see what happens or stop harassing me (recorded conversation). It stopped.
Then I went to dealer for a recall service and it started again. Dealer sold/gave my info to SiriousXM again claiming they did me a favor. I just ignore them now and collect junk email as evidence in case there is ever a class action against SiriusXM for harassment. I have it all automated with email filters. I have made hundreds of dollars off participating in class actions (price fixing suits, etc TV manufacturers the worst) and would love to collect on SiriousXM...may never happen...but I can dream.

Sales people are parasites in my opinion :crapstorm:. Get a real job and create something someone wants.

Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
Hit them with a market adjustment. See how they like that shit.

I like to answer the door in my underwear, but they keep talking. I tell them I'm not interested and to have a good day, then they are all like I can't hear you. I tell them I can't hear them either and that's the way I like it. Sometimes they still can't get the message, I go sit back down after that.

Why anybody wastes their time going D2D selling that kind of nonsense makes no sense. The amount of time wasted they could have worked a real job and made a few dollars.

    4 run, 2 don't
First new car I take it?

This is standard practice across any franchise dealer across the nation. Has been for many years.

There are so many CRM tools in place that give salesman automatic reminders to call said customer on different occasions whether it's their birthday, the day of purchase (1 year reminder, etc) and even details of how long the loan purchase was or lease.

This works well to inform said sales consultant if a vehicle is paid or (or close to being paid off) or not.

Although it's way more effective when it's the actual salesperson calling that sold the car, though sometimes that person isn't employed at the dealership anymore.
