I'm surprised they didn't list a diesel model too.

Hey, guys! I was on the lot at Fred Anderson Toyota in Raleigh, NC today. They had a TRD Off Road I-Force Max with the Off Road Upgrade Package, ARB tow hooks on the rear bumper, TRD Skid Plate, Spray on bed liner, all weather mats, PPF, etc. They wanted $58,000 for it. I told him to knock of $5,000 and we would talk. He said, "done." Just like that. $5,000 off the truck. I don't think they are selling well. I am going to wait for the 2025 models to start coming out and see what the pricing on them look like and if they provide better packages for options too. Oh, the truck was the underground paint color. He said if any of the Tacoma's have been on the lot for more than 10 days he will take $5,000 off for me. Those were his exact words.

I also test drove it. The i-Force Max is the way to go. Man does that thing pull! Way more get up and go than my 2019 6 cylinder!

Thanks for the info bro. Also waiting to see if/when they make a LB hybrid that is not a TH.

There would have to be demand. Strong hybrid sales and Trailhunters selling for MSRP and above before the LB hybrid is made available.

I just saw two Underground Sports one LB and one SB about five minutes apart, some body is buying the non-hybrids.

Supposedly all Toyota vehicles will be electrified within five years, I believe, so maybe the Tacoma will have a LB hybrid option in 27 or 28. I just turned 85K on mine and am in no hurry.

It’s fake news. Toyota, is deliberately staying away from all electric vehicles and has been for a while. Now whether it’s some form of booster/hybrid, that much may be true in their compliance with their agreement with the US government.(which is why there is a four-cylinder turbo in the new Tacoma’s when other manufacturers still offer a naturally aspirated six)

Toyota just happened to miss the torque specs on bz4x wheels their first battery vehicle.

I think I read somewhere recently where the Toyota NA chief said all versions of all vehicles will be at least hybrid in a few years. No more gas-only versions of Rav4, Tacoma, etc etc.

That I could see that potentially happening due to their handshake with the government.

Which makes sense. The electric motors are phenomenal for instant torque. Battery can do all of the start-stop driving, regenerative braking. Lower wear and tear on components, less heat produced, longer brake pad life, less strain on transmissions. Higher torque and horsepower when you need it.

All of the steady state driving you can do with the gas, all of the hard start stop stuff you can do with the motor.

Yeah, I just wish these new hybrid versions of the LC, Tundra, and (probably) of the Tacoma could do a little better with MPG. The Tundra hybrid offers virtually no improvement over the gasser and the several LCs logged on Fuelly are averaging 18 and change. Maybe the Tacoma hybrid will be the exception.

I wonder if this is some sort of proof of concept on a large scale -- the hybrid Tacomas and Tundras. Just to see what the market reception is, the user experience, how much people bitch on forums about it, what type of person buys a hybrid Tacoma, how do they use it?

I mean you can do all the focus groups you want, but focus groups are how you end up with shit like old man looking rims on a TRD OR, red piston seats, and stupid animations on the dash for changing between eco and sport mode.

They definitely didn’t listen to their old timer core customers that is for sure. Owners have been screaming for decades to get better fuel economy, that didn’t happen. We just wanted a no nonsense little truck that runs forever. The gimmicks are comical.

Seems like the new target market is Instagram influencer bros who toss a whole aftermarket parts catalog at their Tacos so they can look outdoorsy. Crazy how much is spent just to go be quasi comfortable to go sleep in the woods or desert. Apparently need 465 ft lbs of torque to do it too.

They do heavy marketing of it as an adventure rig, commercials have it ripping around in the dirt, then they put a smaller gas tank in it.

Toyota: “Let’s go places! just not too far…”

They did however give us a somewhat stripper base model, but the price doesn’t reflect “base” $40K if you want 4WD. That is a $30K truck at best.

Actually I might go for the ghetto x-tra cab LB in Underground. Just get some black wheels and call it a day.
