I feel like a walking skeleton today, three late nights working on the toyota pickup. Did the last of the heavy lifting and big fab yesterday at least.

    A bit yea usually
I'm gonna get a second opinion before deciding anything in case he just messed up the timing job or something. I'm not sure if there's any common ways to mistime a 5VZ, but we'll see I guess.

You could mistake the front crank mark for the back one I suppose, one is 90* out from the other, front mark is for belt linup and back mark is for oil pump lineup, but if you used the front mark to line up for oil pump yeah that'd fuck some shit up

Yea a lot of people don't like to tip before getting served though, and also since we don't bring the food and drinks out to the tables usually. It is a bit weird how servers at sit down restaraunts get so much in tips though. Is there job much harder than a barista or line cook?

Well you only mentioned you worked at a coffee shop - in my mind I think something with small tables (where they don't bring the food to you) when they call out your name or something

    Don't y'all do this anyway?

Yea it's kinda like that, but we don't say anything, the tip screen just pops up after they pay. Some people just pretend not to see it and walk away and leave their tab open instead of just hitting no tip lol. Also it's usually the rich-looking people that don't tip.

Yeah, that and old people according to my cousin who used to work at a Denny's many years ago

Said the old timers that had a few coffees and a big breakfast would leave a quarter or a few nickels as a tip

There's a lot that's messed up about tipping culture tbh, like why is it almost mandatory to tip on amount? If anything, being a server at Denny's is probably harder than some fancy steakhouse. I feel like it also used to be 10-20 %, and now it's 20-30%. Also the cooks should be tipped more than servers, or at least equally IMO.

    Cooks should definitely get tipped

Then again wages should be higher for certain jobs too but we can go off topic easily and get into other stuff

When does the second opinion happen on the truck? You mentioned this a week back or two but?

The other mechanic is on vacation this week, but he has me on the schedule for Monday. He said I might just have to pay a $120 diagnostic fee.

Hopefully not, he seemed like an honorable guy and told me he was curious too.
