What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I swear my screen scratched just from dust before I ever touched it. A little frustrating.

 

Id actually like some info on this. Seems like I never know what to tell people to get me as a gift .. this seems perfect I could clean up the inside of my instrument cluster and eliminate the scratches up plastic at the same time? Where to get?how much? Etc

This is the premium one and the one I used. It's a premium kit with the solution, squeegee, and cloth. You can get a second set of film for a little more in case you think you'll need a do-over. The price is not too friendly though. There are knock off kits on the usual sites.

I applied mine when my truck was new so I know it has protected the instrument cluster and makes the HU screen really easy to clean. I have no idea what it would do overlaying something w/ scratches.

 

I used an

$10 RJ-45 Ethernet Round Panel Mount Adapter Plug 4130 by Adafruit

RJ45 ethernet jack (female to female) with an ethernet extension cord routed to the radio body that I put in the glove box. For the mic I modified the back and epoxied a fender washer with some velcro (loop side). I have a magnet (I think I got it on Amazon) that I have mounted on the Expedition Essentials dash mount that holds the mic quite well. I have the velcro on the backside of the mic to help with removal from the magnet as well.

Trying out these TRD decals. Looks pretty good to me. We’ll see how I like it long term. Also got the Icon RXT set for stage 2 and ready to go on the truck. And some 5160 for the rear.

Changed oil and oil filter today. Did work myself. Mobil 0w20 and Toyota filter element. Took a little longer than normal, as I keep getting older. First oil change on this vehicle done by myself so I had to make sure I was loosening correct bolts and parts. Have been self wrenching 50+ years but everything takes longer. Installed Fumoto drain plug and metal filter housing. Motivx tools really helped. Dealer I purchased from did last change and I must say everything seemed fine and nothing too difficult to remove and no cross threading etc by them. Pretty happy with it all.

Why not use the Sport Shift mode and manually bang it up a gear? That what have to do sometimes in big parking lot behind a super slow line of next gens with my OTT.

 

You're mistaken. S-mode stands for 'Suggested', not 'Sport', ECU will decide whether or not to comply.

 

What? I'd much prefer looking at an amber headlight signature than the nuclear hot LEDS. I don't think these would "blind" anybody...

 

I dropped off my camper shell Tuesday to have it sent back to the factory. The paint started peeling around the passenger’s side window in less than two months of ownership. The place I bought my Leer shell from said the know about the leaking problems that tacomas have and that they know how to seal it properly so it won’t leak. Whenever I washed the truck it leaked on both from sides of the bed. It also leaked along most of the drivers side. Since they don’t apparently know how to properly seal it so it doesn’t leak, I’ve decided to take care of it myself. I just pulled both rail caps off, cleaned the bed rail, and then laid down a bead of silicon along the top in a large oval to go around the length of the rail in get both sides of the mounting holes in the top of the rail. Next I need to get some butyl tape to take care of that big gap between the side rails and the front rail.
