Why not use the Sport Shift mode and manually bang it up a gear? That what have to do sometimes in big parking lot behind a super slow line of next gens with my OTT.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
You're mistaken. S-mode stands for 'Suggested', not 'Sport', ECU will decide whether or not to comply.

o_OWhat? I'd much prefer looking at an amber headlight signature than the nuclear hot LEDS. I don't think these would "blind" anybody...

I dropped off my camper shell Tuesday to have it sent back to the factory. The paint started peeling around the passenger’s side window in less than two months of ownership. The place I bought my Leer shell from said the know about the leaking problems that tacomas have and that they know how to seal it properly so it won’t leak. Whenever I washed the truck it leaked on both from sides of the bed. It also leaked along most of the drivers side. Since they don’t apparently know how to properly seal it so it doesn’t leak, I’ve decided to take care of it myself. I just pulled both rail caps off, cleaned the bed rail, and then laid down a bead of silicon along the top in a large oval to go around the length of the rail in get both sides of the mounting holes in the top of the rail. Next I need to get some butyl tape to take care of that big gap between the side rails and the front rail.

we went to the state park in CC and drove about 25 to 35 miles on the beach and then turned around and headed back, saw some strange stuff that had washed up - in was the fall and almost empty except for 3 or 4 border patrol agents parked and watching the water

Maybe his truck refused to go to the mall and someone else drove? I think we should give @RIX TUX the benefit of the doubt ... well ... not that we have not indulged him through all of his tantrums so far ...

    Just a rusty old buoy.
My dad bought a beach house at Sargent Beach in 1968.My guess I was about 14. There was trees brought in by the tide over 100' long and my guess from South America.
My Company Commander asked me and two others to fly the beach from West of Freeport to Louisiana looking for DB's. (Dead Bodies) Shrimp boat sank. We were 100 AGL and about
40 mph. Never seen more hard hats and igloo coolers that washed up on shore.

This is 27 miles west of Freeport:

So check this out. I got a diagram on the crash report. I'm the green car in the diagram. Apparently behind me two cars merged into one lane, the blue Hyundai lost control and was sent flying into me. IMO it looks like she was merging with too much speed. Anyways both parties are claiming fault. The other car is a company truck and it had a 360 camera onboard and showed everything. Their insurance is paying everything and my deductible is being waived.

My Taco had about 70,000 miles on it, when I got it, and the cluster cover was scratched to hell. I had read that the screen protect would take care of it, and was skeptical, but decided to give it a shot. I got the premium kit and was glad I did, as the first application was a bit more squirrelly than I expected, so I took it off, and had much better success the second time around. Made the cluster look new, and it still does, even after about 4 years. Highly recommended!

Interesting. Let me ask a question, If you had noticed the in your rear view mirror the 2 vehicles colliding. Do you think if you knew that you could have avoided the collision with that car??

Probably not. Traffic in front of me was braking so I was paying attention to that, and I think even if I had noticed, the Tacoma acceleration and steering is slow to respond. It happened so fast, as I was pulling over, I kept asking myself what the heck just happened

You linked a thread that accurately describes the function of s mode but keep incorrectly saying you can control up shifting?
It is simply an upper limit.
The only way you can “force” the trans to upshift is if you have set to a lower gear, the rpm’s are past the ecus preferred shift range for that gear and then you shift it higher. You can’t make the transmission move upward more than it wants.
Go set it to S5 @ 20mph. Let us know what happens

Don't know why Toyota cheap'ed out here. First mod I did on my 2020 within the first 2 weeks of ownership. My screen still looks like new after years of cleaning. Now if I could just get that little bit of dust and dirt out from behind the trip reset/dash light switch.

No, you can't force it to upshift. Like I said, you merely suggest you'd like to upshiift and the ECU decides if it's going to comply. I'm quite familiar, my 3rd gen has 118k miles on it and I am tuned. You don't force this transmission to do anything, you suggest. Many a time, I've pushed S6 and gotten nowhere. The trans says: nope, I'm not warm enough yet, I'll sit here at 3k for a little while yet. Besides, you're on a .5% grade and I'd prefer to be level or on a down grade for that suggestion.
