My problem is that when I’m doing something now and need something, pausing work and ordering online means the job will never get done. Momentum killer.

One could argue that maybe I should plan and order things ahead of time. But you know how that goes.

When ya make a plan things never go as planned and then ya get disappointed.
No plan means nothing goes wrong because there's nothing to compare to what's right.
    Ya....

Same here, I have windows to rebuild, a deck to finish, interior window frames to finish installing, interior paint, replace the spiral stairs with new cat resistant treads... Hmmm, I know the honeydoo list is muck longer. That doesn't include any of my fun projects, like finishing the portable bars, making a few Nakashima chairs, another table... Hmmm. I should just retire and work on projects.

This particular project doesn't put the truck out of commission so I can order as needed.
Can finish making the cable for the winch today.
Battery terminal will be here tomorrow and then I can go get stuck somewhere.

@Pixeltim these projects are more fun. Those other projects? They aren't going anywhere.

Jackery website says they are rated for 500 cycles at 80% depth of discharge (DoD). So that means you can use 80 amp hours (or 960 watt hours). 80% is a pretty conservative number for lithium battery dischage that you will see a lot - you can go deeper but it will reduce the number of cycles it can do over the lifetime.

The best way to really know the cost is calculating dollars per Ah or Wh (depends if you like amps or watts better, I prefer amps). Given the Jackery specs, assuming the cost is $1k retail for that unit then cost per actual usable Ah = $12.50. If we assume the cost of that Milwaukee packout project is $2500 and the battery is 100Ah (80Ah usable), then cost per Ah = $25.00 which is eye watering. For context on the DIY side, I have a 206Ah battery + Redarc 40A DC charger + Victron shunt and misc wiring/connectors to make it all chooch. Cost minus labor let's say is $1,500 so price per Ah = $7.28. That's half of the Jackery cost, and about 1/4 of that super custom Broverlander reseller cost. The cost of batteries is also dropping fast meaning you can get more capacity for your dollars if you DIY.

Y'all have probably heard me rail against the Jackery's and Bluetti's and what not and this is why. No doubt they are a plug-and-play option which works for many people. They are great for that and if you like it don't hesitate to grab one, you will be happy with it. I only dislike them for the cost because I know you can save money by DIY'ing and more often than not have more Ah capacity and faster charging too. As a side benefit, if I can convince people to spend less on the battery stuff that means you have more money for other mods. And isn't that what this thread is all about?

I need to figure out a way to monetize "Scott" when I get these questions to help fund our habits. Alexa, mail me my royalty check.

All this talk about unfinished projects... I have a lot of those, but this one is moving along. Got my garage paint booth all set up and all the bumper parts floating. I'll be up early tomorrow morning to give them an acetone wash and then the 4-6 coats of painting begins. Sorry Hon, I'll get to those baseboards and picture frames soon.

That is pretty serious...seriously awesome! Pretty sweet that they are able to send you updates like that. While you are waiting for it to return you should grow your hair into a mullet so you can do a 4WD247 paraody of Shauno with Sooty.

Heck yeah very nice! Can't wait to see it in person. I'm glad more people don't have high clearance cuts in this group because once I see it I know I'm going to want to do it. For now my body panels stay intact lol.

"Oh, and hon. I'm going to need you to park in the driveway."

Are we getting right down to relative humidity?
    Short story.
Stained a table that wasn't drying worth a crap.
Built a makeshift wind tunnel for it with a fan on one end.....dehumidifier on the other.
    Dried in no time.

Edit: I 1st read that as Han, like Star Wars, only I wasn't getting the Star Wars reference. :anonymous:
