Nope, not yet but the reviews seem good and I read good things about it doing a google search. People didn’t have good things to say about POR

Heres a quick update on the mini hog for the excavator...

On these small Cat excavators you cant tram/travel & run the 3rd function at the same time.
This is done on purpose by Cat. They say its a safety concern for the operator.
I say its a super hindrance to be able to use the hog. Instead of being able to set it at a angle/height & tram along.... You have to set up, do a spot you can sweep with, move, set up, sweep, move..... Blah blah.

YES it still did everything I wanted to do with it around the ponds & steep banks. Did a fine job.
But it was a lot more effort than it would have been if you could tram/travel.

I do get it. Its a good bit of weight out there & you can tip it over in a second if your not careful, so they dont want you herky jerky moving around. At the same time though: how can you get better with it if its not efficient on your movements?

Still need to get better with it anyway, as I was NOT smooth at all. Maybe later i'll look into a work around for the cut off switch or a by pass.

Also for anyone considering getting one of these? I would very much advise you to have at least my size or larger machine.(6klb machine) Its really right on the line for my feelings as it is.

A bit heavier machine probably wouldn't have any issues at all.

As to the cutting? WOW! Its a friggin animal! No problem flow wise with spinning it or it cutting.
Very impressed there. More practice is obviously needed.

Did about 4hrs with it over the weekend & 2hrs with it this morning.

About an hour of work, splits are relatively uniform, lengths differ. Normally cut wood to 16-20 inch lengths for the boiler

I really want to see a vid!

I freely admit, I get sucked into those forestry vids.

I bet it doesn't take long to figure out the tramming bypass.

If I was one of those "go pro kids"..... Would have video's...

But its not safe for anyone to be anywhere around while you run this & it takes both hands & both feet to do this with any amount of efficiency or smoothness. That kinda kills videoing.

Maybe I can stick my phone in my shirt pocket on video & get some decent footage that way?

Will give it a shot next time I've got it out. (Next week for sure)

I brought the 036 to work to sharpen the chain and clean it up. I noticed two holes on the cover for another dog. Did a search and you can buy them for one on each side. Made some weird cuts felling trees lately and the extra one would have come in handy so I used some CAD help (cardboard assisted design) and wha-lah.

This will be nice cutting wedges next time.

Check out Amazon for some cheap Go-Pro imitations. They come with multiple mount options so you would be likely to find something that would work. If I was YouTube famous I would invest in the Go-Pro. Just messing around every so often, the imitations are just fine for me.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
I could do a pile of splits like that in an hour, but I would need the engine powered splitter! ;-)

It’s a lot of work digging out a stump with the regular bucket! Granted I started with a bigger stump.

Very responsible if you to use a tree bark damage limiting strap on that stump.

I’m working on a RV pad to rent out, heard there is good money in that. Hopefully the trencher works so I can run electrical from the shop. Thinking just a 30amp post.

You can run a good sized RV on 30 amp. The only ones that really need 50 amps are the ones running 2 or 3 AC units in the hottest part of summer.

With many people swapping out their roof air units with mini- splits, the power needs will be even less.

Yeah, and I don’t want those huge RV’s on my property anyways. I need to figure out what I can do for sewage, have been reading it’s not good to dump into your septic tank. Might look into getting city sewage just for the RV pad/future 2 bed 2 bath additional dwelling unit.
