Ya know, for how much we old codgers complain that Toyota doesn’t build a basic truck, well…there it is. Clam shell doors are for sissy’s. ;)

I just optioned an SR5 XC with the things I'd want for 49K. Assume I could get it for 44 or 45, but still, thats a lot of coin.

It is for a “basic” truck. I am finding them for around $40K, still feels $10K to high. Out of curiosity, looking at low mile used Tundras. Found a DC, 13K miles, with the convenience package, softex seats, 14” touch screen. $44K. Looks like the Tundra market is slipping a bit because of the engine recall.

Weird that the DC Taco is cheaper than the XC.

August 23 vs 24 Tundra sales were up 32%… Definitely not slipping!

Resale I meant. They are grumbling about it on the Tundra forum.

    I don’t think the words
BASIC and TRUCK apply to anything being offered in today’s market. with the on slot of all the technology that’s being fitted into today’s trucks, nothing about them is basic anymore. Not even the Ford Ranger, and ranger and the S-10 were the most basic trucks ever produced.

You are correct. Using the word basic these days for how many options are on them. Today’s basic truck comes loaded compared to the old stuff. If we are honest with ourselves, that is pretty nice.

I myself am a pretty big fan of the active cruise controls that are on them now along with the 360 cameras

Yeah we are getting fairly spoiled. And that is ok too. Don’t realize how much we take all the Gee-Gaws for granite until you jump into something that doesn’t have it.

absolutely!…. And that even goes for the technology you can’t see like how much better the suspension is now than the last generation of Tacoma. I am kind of curious though why the bump stops went away in the suspension if in fact that is true. Curious to see if they show back up on the 25s.

Yep it is very welcomed, us old curmudgeons like to act all big and tough, if you cut us we ooze honey

Researching trucks I started out looking at the Tacoma XCs, thinking I only needed something basic, now I am looking at Tundra Limited’s. Ha!

I have a 2025 update. According to the text sent to me by my sales person today, tomorrow is a mass allocations launch and they will all be 2025s according to him.IMG_6149.jpg IMG_6150.jpg

I suspect they've changed the software so the turbo runs more often. Which means it won't last as long.

Yes because a sales guy is the most knowledgeable. Please don’t bet your retirement on this happening, just saying.

I'm guessing that the difference between the 2025 and the 2024 will be the "5" versus the "4" and that's literally going to be it.

You know they don’t work by hearsay right? They actually work with computers that show them all the latest data coming out of the factory.
