Chores aren’t going anywhere either. Today, I “planned” on cutting the lawn.

Instead, I walked by some square tube pieces I had cut 6 months ago to make some front legs for the cantilevered portion of my roof rack. It needs legs to keep branches from getting caught under the rack and mounts, and so I can finally get a wind deflector on the damn thing. I cut them and put them aside because, eh, I wasn’t sure I liked the idea at the time. And because the I’d need to weld caps on the end as the next step, which is fun, but putzy work.

Last week, also when I went out to mow the lawn, I decided instead to grind out a softer profile on the top corner of the leg. Because having one aero corner on a square tube roofrack is important.

The lawn is still long today, but I got the caps cut, formed, welded and ground down. Need to go back and re-do some gaps that revealed themselves after grinding, but it was a fun way to not do chores.

This should be done sometime within the next year :D

Eventually it will get welded on to the roofrack like this.

Deck is fully up. I’m gonna need a lift kit for my little tractor if I want the grass any higher. :p

I thought @pearing / Pat's 33's were BFG KM3's or KM2's. Great for trails, awful for everything else. @Pixeltim you'd be better off with some good AT's.

Aren't those like 10 years old by now?

I saw those before I went to bed and I'm like, "man, how come I didn't know 33's were so free flowing around here.....

    Now I'm like, "meh, nevermind".

I never had any real complaints except for the noise. They are bomber tires and worked well everywhere except ice. That Ice Road Truckers weekend was stressful…

With all the talk of house projects I guess it’s a good time for a mailbox post update.

This thing is a whole unit. It’s skook-um as frig boooi!
4” square tube 3/16 wall. A post that would make @pearing proud.

    IMG_5030.jpg
Got it in the ground yesterday.
I have been debating on painting or not. It’s thick enough wall that if I leave it to the elements raw it’s probably going to last 30 years. But paint is more aesthetically pleasing. In the end I found this cold galvanizing paint at Ace I’m going to try.

I'm sure they're good for what they are. I just wouldn't run MT's year round in a snowy climate. They're good on fresh snow, but junk on ice and packed snow, as you mentioned.

If I were buying year round tires, I'd only be looking at 3PMSF all terrains.

    Is that steel pole legal?
Or should I say within the Post Office guidelines.

    Asking for a friend.

You should paint it to match your traction boards.
