Where Have You Off-Roaded Today? 3rd Gen

I live in Idaho Springs, CO. The Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway takes you to the top of Mt. Blue Sky (Mt. Evans), 15 minutes from my house. It is the highest PAVED road in North America. Breathtaking views and some butt-pucker to look forward to! Trail Ridge Road, I believe, is the route you are referring to for the Estes park/ Granby area.

Love this trail! Amazing photo ops, not real technical but a fun steep section. Last summer….

I took a cruise down Schultz pass, finally opened after being closed for fire and flooding for last two years
Not really offroading since its honestly smoother than my driveway, but still a good day.

Full Disclosure: This is a repost - My pals and I went up the Squamish FSR, then turned left onto the Elaho FSR at the 28 Km Mark, up to Peaches and Cream waterfall - what a beauty (my first time there). Here's a couple of pics of the Taco while parked at the entrance to the falls.

The FSR was bone dry and clear. No puddles, floods and most importantly, no washouts (like October 2023).

This is my first time on the FSR on a weekend - I was expecting more traffic - lots of people camping (actually, more people were packing up to leave) but I didn't see any yahoo's driving on the FSR today.

I lived in Seattle until I left for college. I lived briefly in NC, but such hills as you show are not common in eastern NC. Someday I may decide I like "cold" again and move to such locales.

 

this was a jeep trail that went to an old mine, it was about 28 miles to get to it from the pavement, we only went 4 miles because of so many rocks and ruts ......very slow going

 

Those who live in civilization need to drive far to reach these. I want to win the lottery but collect my winnings anonymously so I can go whenever the hell I feel like it. Even just 2 million would be enough.

 

Dodging mud ruts on state trust land to get to the hiking trailhead to Fisher Point.

Went camping at pinecrest in Northern California and while wife and kids were at the beach I hit Niagara Rim trail. Excellent way to kill a few hours.

 

Impromptu trip to Moab. Will definitely be back.

 

In mid-July, coastal and central Alaska...

 

Then, the Yukon Territory and north to the Arctic in Northwest Territory...

 

And ultimately, to the Arctic Ocean

 

Up in Bridgeport this week and my buddy and I tried to hit up Laurel Lakes OHV. made it up a part of the way until I got a transmission temp light and decided to just make my way back. Daughter seemed to enjoy the ride so that was a big plus!
