I hope we don't go back to the Schumacher days when who was going to win was never in doubt , those years were quite frankly , boring .

Ya thats true. Its not completely boring cause there still battles throughout the whole field but its kinda pointless if the battles arent for the lead.

how 'bout that start last night? 3 wide through that tight turn 1:eek:

lol I missed that part. I was watching it and I got about half way through but I guess I fell asleep cause I woke looked up and the race was over and Vettel was on the podium. But I recorded it so I can go back and watch it.

How the hell did those two Renaults carry so much damn speed through turn 1?

Renault has the radical forward dumping exhaust this year , no ?

It acts to create a low pressure zone under the plank and adds ground effect .

Funny. I thought FOM agreed to do without blown diffuers this year? I mean the exhaust is on the side and not the rear of the car but it is still doing the same thing, just not as efficently i'm sure. And you could really see the difference no KERS makes on Webber's start.

Here is all you need to know about the renault exhaust
Good race. Petrov sure did grow some wings there for a moment..

My only gripe here, is the FIA needs to assess penalties then and there, not after the race. It's a joke that we don't ever really know what the ending order is till they have chimed in.

Oh sure, the v10 is great, and the noise is amazing. But I can tell ya, the noise of the v8 in person is amazing on its own. Hell, when I saw a race live, they had porsche cup racing, and Renault cup racing. While the porsche was not that loud, i made the mistake of wandering the pit walls during Renault without ear protection... What you hear on TV is NOTHING compared to what its like live.

But if a driver does something on track that warrants a penalty, have them serve it then and there, and let them race. Telling a driver "hey, you finished in x position, but here's 20 seconds added on, so your now in y position" is rubbish. In a world where things are decided by tenths of seconds, the battles need to be on track, not in charlie's booth.

Interesting race. Anyone else get the feeling RBR is picking favorites?

Petrov's launch will be in the highlight reel at the end of the year recap. That was sick.

I still maintain there is something hinky with Webber's car. Pretty amazing Vettel's KERS didn't shit the bed on the start like Webber's did....

Just to stir more shit up, the FIA is going to 4 cylinder engines in 2013. I wonder what kind of noise THOSE are going to make...

I'm heading to the race in Austin, TX in 2012. I'm really looking forward to it.

There's supposed to be a big announcement coming from the FIA about Austin on Tuesday.

Eccelstone is trying to shit can the 4Cyl engine , and Ferrari says they want no part of it as it doesn't translate to it's road cars .

Bernie also has said, and rightly so, that the noise is part of the attraction of the series. Can't loose that part..
They would be turbo 4's and making the same kinda power as now. Makes sense from the "green" perspective, but from every other angle... no.

I don't see Ferrari worrying about greening their image anytime soon .

They have produced a hybrid 599 prototype. But as a principal, no, Ferrari is not gonna get green.
