    Toyota paint will either peel or have ugly fade over time. It comes down to care and if the truck will be park in the sun or in the garage.

    040 is so bad they had to rename it last year and there’s an actual recall (doesn’t cover Tacoma or 4Runner) so it’s worse than the other crappy Toyota paint and Toyota even admits it

    My 98 040 still look good today and I’m not the original owner. Though I do park it in the garage and hand wash the truck vs pressure washing.

    They switched paint during the 2nd gen to water based 1st gen is still decent

    I understand Toyota is all about quantity and not quality for several years now. 95% of the third gen Tacoma we looked at, the 040 paint is good.
