Does anyone have a few decent pictures of the front of the motor with the pulley bracket and belts in place but not in a truck. I’d love to see a pic. I’m like 1500 miles away from mine right now. lol.

Actually, any pics would help. Whatever you’ve got.

I ordered one of these belts last night. I’ll trim it this week at work and then stuff it in my bag for the flight home on Thursday.

SCOL has the rest of my parts needs shipping to PHX this week as well. So, it looks like I’ll be wrenching a bit next weekend.

Hey brother, my motor is still in the truck, but here are a few pics I grabbed. Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you need one in a more specific area

    Thank you! These help.

I’m really just trying to find places to bolt on additional support for that pulley bracket. I’d love to add at least two. I’m thinking that the compressor may need to get spaced out a bit and a plate sandwiched in there. Not sure if that’s doable though. There’s a lot that’s in motion up there. Plus there’s the idea that it needs to be relatively easy to change belts and do other maintenance.

Can someone give me the o.d. Of this spacer ?

Hey guys this is Jake with Beloved Racing. I’ve been following a lot of Tacoma world threads for a while now but finally decided to make an account. There are sooooo many posts and pages to go through to find straightforward answers as to what can all be done to our supercharger so im hoping now in 2024 i can get some good answers/feedback on what to do.

currently i have on hand a “TRD” blower. No install kit and no intercooler kit. I am aware that URD sells both and that LCE sells their own kit but i honestly dont have faith that they have all the parts necessary.

i guess my first question to start off would be: is URD the best choice to properly install the blowerand make this a complete kit? I was already recommended by another member to check out SCOL for our kits and i’ll be reaching out to them soon

Is it new? If it’s used, and has not been rebuilt/serviced, plan on that as a potential after you get it all installed and hear bad noises… there’s have been a few unfortunate people recently that bought used and thought it was good to go, but needed a rebuild.

Its used, bought it from a guy off FB a few years back. Doesnt look or sound bad but im definitely in talks with Stiegemeier at the moment and i’ll most likely have him inspect it in case it does need a rebuild83C3ECE4-F7E8-4E32-A1F3-AE3668F3EB8C.jpg

Mine had no visual or ascertainable signs it needed a rebuild until I got it on the truck… nothing was loose or had any play by hand.
Unless you know the previous owner and exactly how many miles are one the blower, I’d just send it in for a rebuild.
That said, it’s not too hard to pull it off. Especially when you just put it on.

You could go through urd, or superchargers online. Who ever you prefer. The fit kit provides the things needed that are specific just to the tacoma. The other install kit is all the stuff that is a generic fit for all trucks with the blower. They are pretty damn expensive to where its probably almost cheaper just to buy a whole new setup especially if yours needs rebuilt. But you do have the trd casting which is good for atleast +25hp

I agree with you on the +25hp . The “TRD” branded ones are like gold so im glad i came across this one. Stiegemeier will be porting the plenum, blower, and my tundra 76mm throttle body aswell as doing their venom cooler. A lot of money but im crazy like that plus ya know “TRD”. I’ll most likely end up having him just rebuild it then for peace of mind since i do not know the guy i bought the blower from and im pretty sure he wouldnt remember how many miles were on it before. I tried talking with Magnuson on why their other superchargers only fit FJ/4runners and not the tacoma aswell since we have the same engine (1gr-fe). Is it only because we have single VVT-I or is there more that im not aware of? Because their other superchargers produce a few more hp and tq factory already

Yea that blower is for the dual vvti 1gr. I dont think anyone has tried to bolt one on to a single vvti but likely the pulley system would need to be redesigned as well at minimum.

There was the Chinese company that had a clone of the dual vvti version right? I would be tempted if I had a second vehicle and space.

yessir vt racing I believe. I would be tempted as well but they are charging damn near magnuson prices so I’m not too keen on that.

Makes sense. I’m sure if they could sell us the nicer blower they would. I have heard magnuson is working on a redesign to the single vvti blower setup but that probably won’t be out for another 3-5 years to never if I had to guess.

On an unrelated note, Superchargers online reached out to me the other day about their double roller pulleys.

I was informed the proper way to run the upper two pulleys is to place the stock spacer in the front of the pulley not the back like stock. That will get them to be in the proper placement compared to a stock pulley. Brian was super apologetic about not knowing about that issue. I brought it up to him because someone on here mentioned it so he looked into it and found that solution. For what it’s worth I’ve been running mine with the spacers like stock and knock on wood it seems fine, but I’m only on a 2.85 pulley also.

I think that may have been me that noticed a difference in alignment. Because of that I never installed my new ribbed pulleys from them but I’ve still got them. When I take everything apart again I’ll check to see if changing the spacer makes a difference.

Did you use the included spacers that come from scol or are those the stock spacers?

I just got off the phone with superchargers online. Apparently I was supposed to receive the spacers along with the pulley. But, I did not. They are shipping them to me overnight. So I should have them tomorrow morning.

There’s no documentation or anything in the box just my studs and the pulley. So, I wasn’t aware that I was missing anything.

Yeah, I think they need to be better about that. When I ordered a replacement after my stud snapped and ruined my first one they didnt send me spacers but it was the same price. I think they should probably just always include those spacers because they are definitely needed.

Update a month later. I drove up to a trailhead early this AM, 44F when I left, 38F when I got there some 2,500’ foot elevation gain later. Truck has been running amazing, super smooth power delivery, not a code in sight…until this AM. Right before I topped out at the trailhead at 9,500 feet (blacktop 35mph the last 7 miles), I had about a 4-6 second misfire on cylinder 6 and the usual suspect code of P0356.

I cleared the code, did the 10 mile hike and drove it home without incident a few hours later. The whole trip up I was in the sweet spot of 2000-2800 rpms, medium load, low throttle position. There is no way in hell that this is low compression on that cylinder with no issues in a month and the smoothest power this truck has ever put out. It has to be electrical related or even electronic in the ECU.

So now I go back to wiring whack a mole. If I buy a replacement ECU it will not be TRD flashed and I will have to send the UCON back to Gadget for a new calibration. Grrrrr.
