Funny you say that, we hardly ever wore helmets & we were on wooded trails most of the time!

But when the snowmobiles came out we almost never went without helmets & most of our riding was on the lake!

Drove by this today. The entire wall collapsed.
When I turned the corner there sits a utility style truck, that looked like it was hauling some away.
    Nope.
It had several yards of retaining wall that fell on it. Roof was all caved in. Bed was heaping full.

Edit: Made me think of one @Taco-Grinder that has a wall project waiting for him.

Parents would not let me have a dirt bike. Neighbors had dirt bikes. I rode theirs all the time. To feel like I was safe I often wore my hockey helmet. It was something and I loved the full face cage when we went through the orchards…

Had to drive by that wall this morning.
    Here's the truck.
    Hope nobody was in it.

The wall I built 4 years ago was only about 4ft high and 14ft long. This 2nd wall im doing now will same height but longer than it's twin.
Looking at these pictures the blocks look similar to mine. Yes, a heavy block but it's not going anywhere if properly backfilled. From what I see in these pictures it appears that the wall wasn't backfilled properly. Wait, I take that back. The gravel in Northern Wisconsin may be a different color than what we have here.
I'm not an expert but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express once.

It's fairly new after an older building down below was removed.
It always looked like a disaster waiting to happen.

That doesn't look like back fill. It looks like sand. I've only done a couple smaller walls and read some allen block guides....

You start getting into walls that height and you need to really do some maths to make it.......not do that.

    Funny story from a friend:

Out in the barn cleaning the tractor, using three rags for various products, not sure which rag is which he sniffs them to decide. Just as he is doing this his wife walks in and says "I know you sniff my panties but sniffing cleaning rags is just weird". o_O

    Tough to say around here.
The lot belongs to a body shop.
    Could be their truck.
Could be something they were working on.

When I used to bicycle commute to work I wore a helmet most of the time. Went out to see my brother in CA and we were walking back to the motel after dinner and drinks on one of our adventures. Saw a big commotion ahead, police, fire, paramedics... Got closer to the intersection and saw a crumpled bike and a pile covered with a blanket. My brother turned to me and asks, "you always wear a helmet when you bike right?" I said "I will now," and have every time I've gotten on my bike since.

Couple years after that a bike helmet likely saved my dad's life. He had a bad crash going downhill and his glasses and helmet were wrecked but his noggin was intact.

Well, I got 3 coats on with the paint I had. Coverage looks great and honestly my fears of rattle can application inconsistencies were unfounded. The cans were of high quality, easy to get nice even coverage.

Plastic in the garage is down and the floor is cleaned up. Parts are still hanging. Cure time is 5-7 days. Excited to maybe get it installed next weekend!

My dad worked at Marshal Edrman Inc. He knew Marshal and his wife. Marshal’s wife took her bike down the long driveway to get the mail. She didn’t wear her helmet because it was a short bike ride. She fell and hit her head on a large rock and died.
I started being religiously after that incident.

I mentioned this to the guys at @Pixeltim 's mod day already...

I'm going to be at Tigerton the last weekend in September with my brother, Joe, and Erik M (black 4Runner). Erik has some armor and new tires to try out. And, my brother will be bringing his 4-wheeler. Tim might join us as well.

I wanted to mention this in case anyone feels like meeting up for some shenanigans. I know it's right before Bayfield, but I figured I'd throw it out here just in case anyone is free and interested.

I have site 64, so we could probably squeeze in another truck camper. Also, there are a few sites still available for that weekend.

If anyone is interested, let me know

If I make it up there, it'll likely be for the day only.
