USB Thumbdrive not showing up as a source

Im wanting to play MP3 music that ive transfered from my macbook onto a USBc thumb drive. I made it a point to format the thumbdrive to fat32, and when I plug it into the port on the right side of the 14 inch screen it does not show up as an audio source to choose from. Im wondering if this requires some sort of a subscription to be able to access this drive??? Anyone help with this annoying problem. In past vehicles Ive not had a problem with this.
Also it would seem that I need to keep re selecting Apple Car play every time I start up the truck if I want to use it. Im getting annoyed with some of the glitches that im encountering with the trucks infotainment system!!!
In the event that it matters the truck is a 2024 TRD Sport with the 14 inch display and the JBL audio.

What I've found is that you need a USB 2.0 thumb drive of no more than 8GB. I haven't been able to determine if it's the USB 3 support or being more than 8GB which causes the problem.
