That is a lot of debris in that pan, you sure it's not from a Tundra? LOL, Sorry couldn't resist.

Seriously though, that is a lot of metal, definitely get to the source of it.

No I have 3.5L V6. I thought people were suggesting to cut the paper filter. Could not see any metal on the filter. Plan for now is to drive 500 miles and send oil to blackstone. I appreciate everyone’s feedback and will keep yall posted

Blackstone’s metals analysis is as far as I know done by ICP-AA (inductively coupled plasma/atomic analysis). It’s a simple, highly automated analytical method that gives excellent information about a range of metals at low levels.

But it’s not microscopic or compositional analysis of individual contaminant particles.

Don’t get me wrong — I get Blackstone analyses done regularly on three vehicles — but I don’t think they’re exactly equipped to get to the root cause of your problem.

I’d send them a note explaining your situation and concern and ask them what they’d recommend in the way of analysis.

"carry on" check next oil change. bet it's actually not in Tacoma oil but part of your "pan". I just use a plastic pan that works great for me and no issues for 50 years, no splash, no mess, simple and cheap. Old school rules ! Empty in to a container like new oil put in , for extra needed add maybe container from saved windshield washer container then recycle.

I wonder if the dealer will be willing to do anything here just based on OPs description of the particles / photos, the truck is running fine, and the truck has almost 60K miles on the clock? And even if they are willing to drop the pan for diagnostic purposes, that won't be free.

Good luck OP, but I think you might be pissing into the wind here. They will probably say either "normal" or "bring it back when something actually breaks".

That’s a whole lot of pieces if I’m looking at that right. Strange that the filter looked good.

Is there a possibility that someone was grinding or drilling metal near your empty used oil pan and the shavings fell in it before you did your oil change?

I would also suggest double checking your oil pan that you use to collect the oil when you drain it is really clean prior to use. One time I found grass and stuff in my oil and then I realized I’d used it to change the lawn mowers oil previously ‍♂️

Agreed, that’s why I suggested a clean/new polycarbonate container for the next change.

Have you looked into a magnetic drain plug to pick up the stray sh!t that the filter does not
To keep it from circulating everywhere

You could even go one step further and pull the pan and install the strong neodymium magnets to catch debris sort of like they do in transmissions. They come in all sizes.

I have dropped my trans pan and swapped the low strength OEM magnets for the neodymium magnets two years ago. I will drop my oil pan next summer, just out of curiosity, and I’ll put a couple of the neodymium’s in there at that time too. Overkill for standard OIC’s and a good filter change but I do tend to really kill things off.

The debris in the drain pan looks like oil dry/kitty litter to me.

    Just sayin

There's really nothing you can do other change it again after a few hundred miles or more and inspect. I stopped using mobil 1 many years ago. Valvoline full synthetic 0w-20 and oem filters.
