So I have 33" BFG KM3 tires on 17x9 -12 offset wheels. Originally Purchased, mounted and balanced by Discount tire. Everything was fine. Now, they are about at half tread life and I know I'm missing some weights because I can see adhesive where weights were but no longer. I notice a slight vibration at certain speeds. I have moved and my closest Discount Tire is 1.5 hours away so I took to to the nearest Tire shop to get balanced. They turned me away and said they won't even attempt to balance them because of my wheels. They said they can only put weights in the center to inside edge so they can never get it right and I'll keep coming back. I'm not sure if I should deal with how it is, or try and find a shop that will do it. I'm now concerned, another shop may make it worse if it's so limited on what they can do. Anyone else have this problem on aftermarket wheels?

“Static balance” is with weights only go on the inside of the wheel. Not sure the accuracy vs normal but I used to do it on all my wheels.

My Volk’s are -20 and are balanced fine with weights only on the back.

The shop probably figured they could use only stick-on weights. If you let them use clip-on weights (which will mar the rim lip finish), then they can balance them properly.

The picture he shared looks like it has bead lock looking wheels with no lip to attach clip on weights on the outside.

yes, there is a lip but the fake bolts and detail of the outside of the wheel looks like it would prevent the clip-on weight from seating properly and would likely come off. Just my opinion. I haven't had a wheel with an outside weight for years. Most of the factory Toyota wheels do not have an outer lip on the aluminum anyway so stick on weights on the inside. My jeep with 15x10 wide with 33x12.50x15 only have stick on weights on the inside. No issues. The original guy who posted needs to go to a different shop.

^Actually 4th gen and earlier 4Runners, and 2nd gen and earlier Tacomas all had wheels with a lip and came with clip-on weights from the factory. Newer gens do not.

The space between the casted-in simulated beadlock bolts on the KMC wheel is enough to fit weights. For a dynamic balance you want the weights as close to the inside and outside edges as possible, to counteract wobble vibration.

Correct...however TRD Sema wheels and Trd off road wheels, TRD beadlock wheels
do not have a lip. I'm sure there are others as well. Fun stuff.
