My mom wanted to be buried between her parents so I had her cremated and thats where she is. Its a very odd feeling grabbing a shovel out of the back of your truck at a cemetary.

Ya know I wouldn't think twice about that. We play at the church where my grandmother is buried every day.

    WTF..
    THAT LOOKS SOOOOOO BAD.
Can you pop the retainer back out and line things back up.
Those pins are so fragile. To be honest I’d have to get my hands on it to play with it..
One pic does not a repair make..
I have done straightening when one of the kids bent the crap out of them. Those were males.
This looks like the female end. Lots of loose pin connections waiting to happen..

Yeah, bad is a nice way to describe it…

Thanks for responding so quickly :hattip:

Lining up the pins was what I spent a couple of hours trying this afternoon. Some snap into the housing but it’s not consistent. Some are lined up perfectly and I was trying to maneuver the next highest ones into place, both rows from the slot in the center, while simultaneously applying gentle downward pressure on the plate, in sequence.

I wasn’t able to precisely move the pins with the collection of small picks and screw drivers.

I might file a small slot in a tiny screwdriver to be able to get some lateral control.

I’m thinking I’ll need to depin one side but not completely remove from the connector, just enough to seat one side of the plate, then repin the other side.

    Grrrr

Edit: YT has quite a few clips on how to depin automotive electrical connectors. I learned the reason they’re all working with connectors cut from vehicles and doing on a benchtop…. :frusty: (Lemme know if you want a hint)

Before I threw in the towel, I had to blink and refocus a bunch of times.

Time to deploy the lighted, magnifying thingy! But first, gotta get some more AAAs

i'd consider placing two screwdriver shafts on the outside rear of the plug, and pinched together to force the pins outwards from center. normally there's guides on the outside of the pins to locate them, but there's also usually not openings in the middle for them to fall into either...

i got word earlier today that my grandma passed away this morning. she'd been predicting she was going to pass away in 'the next few days' for the last 5 months now. 3 months ago, she got diagnosed with an aggressive but very treatable cancer and started giving up, doing very little, and eating even less. that was really what did her in the most. she was small/thin before, but between the lack of food and the cancer, she got even thinner. two weeks ago, we changed out her 'normal' bed for a hospital bed, and started hospice stuff.

so none of it was a wild turn, just the way life goes.

if anything, i'm happy that she's through her suffering with all the cancer stuff, and being that she sold the house and moved into a retirement community years ago, there's very few physical assets of any kind for any of the family to bicker over.

another friend of mine is dealing with an aunt that passed suddenly, leaving his alzheimer's-inflicted father as the primary asset manager--so he had to step in due to his fathers condition to manage everything.. she had investment land all over the country, while also leaving other assets to specific family members, with other assets being left undefined that family members are bickering over, while also establishing multiple trusts for various family members through a bank that refuses to let anyone except the aunt that passed away access any of it for going on 3 years now... it's a deep mess that makes me realize that the best way to go is as penniless as we enter.

    Thanks

It’s a pretty hard plastic and I dont think there could be any pinching that wouldn’t crack the housing.

It’s kinda miserable trying to manipulate this connector in the footwell where it is.

On a positive note, my wife agreed a lift, should we get this house, is a good thing for me! That’s half the battle!!! The inspection is tomorrow and the weather’s guessed to be sunny with highs at 62.

    Overnight low was 46…

Good morning everyone, I hope you have an automotive connector trouble free day :hattip:

    No like for this one…

Condolences on your grandma’s passing and your bud’s aunt. Nothing we can really prepare for and like you said, it’s part of life that just keeps ticking along.

Alzeimers is a bitch. I don’t remember her but my grandma on my mom’s side was thought to have it. Luckily, my mom and her brother didn’t get it but it’s in the back of my mind… I think there could be a test either available now or soon. I’d get it just for peace of mind.

That aunt seems like quite a woman! Seems like things might be going to Probate if the family can’t agree and to get a trustee appointed for that non cooperative bank:annoyed:. Good luck to him.

Sorry for your loss. Even when you know it’s coming, it can still be hard. Hang in there, you have a good attitude about it. Prayers for you, family and your friend’s ordeal.
