Battery swap, how long do I have?

Gettin ready to install a new battery. Been on the original one for 4 years now. Kinda weak. Question is how long to I have after disconnecting the old battery and installing the new one before I loose all the memory settings? 2020 TRD Sport V6 auto 4WD. TIA

Never lost any memory settings unless you mean power seat settings?

 

I changed my battery, took my time and didn't lose anything.

 

This just screams that Seinfeld episode with the frogger game

 

Mine was out for about two hours when I cleaned my engine. Nothing lost but having to reset my clock.

 

I think you'll loose the trip odometer instantly, but that's about it.

My factory battery lasted fine with no issues and held a charge, but replaced with a Costco Interstate battery after 6 years being on borrowed time. As others said, the only settings lost that I noticed were the trip odometer and also tank mpg calculation reset. Otherwise I didn’t notice anything different.

Also, using one of these or a fancier battery tester can give a better sense of when you need to replace it.

 

Just had mine out for about 24 hours and only lost the clock setting.

Can't speak for you fancy pants fellas though.

But I will say to disconnect the ground first and reconnect it 2nd.

 

If u have a aftermarket tune, like OTT, does disconnecting the battery affect it at all?

 

No.

 

Jumper cables and another vehicle. Clamp them right on the cable ends.

 

Just curious why?

 

If you are really concerned about loosing any kind of memory the other battery will supply power.

 

Mirror compass zone needs to be re-entered, plus the last used climate control settings are lost (no big deal).
