We have the 2G 2.7 files available. Full disclosure, the trans tables are not defined yet, so it's engine only.

Let us know if we can help!

For the 3rd Gen Tacoma 2.7L Trucks we have access. 2G 2.7 we do not at this time. That data is stored on a separate processor on the board and not available as part of the engine calibration as it is on other years/models.

We have trans control currently with separate mapping available for ‘normal’ and ‘ECT’ modes.

Our standard 3G 2.7L calibrations have a revised schedule in ‘normal’ and a second profile in ‘ECT’

Both are “enhanced” over stock, though we could develop a custom trans calibration for a nominal fee if you so desired/needed.

Q: do you have a dyno chart for this 2.7?

I have your OTT tune on my 3.5L and very much appreciate the shift of the torque peak from 4700 rpm down to 3230.

Indeed we do. Test performed on 87 Octane fuel.

    OTT 3G 2.7L 87Octane Tune.png

We've identified a few things with the 3G 2.7L Calibration that significantly hold this engine back from delivering its full potential below 5200 RPM at full load. We brought our concerns to the software developer after the conclusion of our testing, as we've identified some calibration changes/coding changes that would allow us to extract a fair bit more torque below 5200 RPM. It's been some time, but we've not had those changes made available to enhance the calibration for the 3G 2.7L market.

The above is what one can expect from our current (as of 9/10/2024) base 3G 2.7L Calibration on 87 octane fuel.

Appreciate the kind words @bgavin, thank you!

    Justin

I am not surprised these Gen3 engines are held back significantly, all to make the EPA happy.
The 2.7L is a square design, 95mm bore and 95mm stroke, so it should be happier at lower rpms.
My 3.5L is over square at 94 x 83, like most rice rockets and is designed to rev higher.

Being able to twiddle the VVT-i timing with software to change cam timing is a wonderful thing.
Doing so while being CA smog legal is a real wonderful thing.

    I notice the new Gen4 T24A-FTS is a stroker at 87.5 x 99.5.
This is nearly the same ratio as the big Cummins 6.7L b-series stroker.

I am still being a nail in the side with VF i am confident we will get these tools available, cant say enough about OTT the tune is great but justin's attention to detail and customer service is 2nd to none.

    Hi Justin,

I am interested in the custom trans calibration, can we talk offline ?

I got my OTT tune around year and a half ago now. Haven't really been following the threads, but did notice how much popularity it has gotten since. Is there any updated tune for the 3g 2.7 I should know about?

For the 3g 2.7, unfortunately not. We’re waiting for a custom patched file from VFT to release anything further. We believe there to be a pretty sizeable bump in low end/midrange torque to be had if we can get this file and make the edits we need too.

Nothing at present, but we’ll work to get it supported. Would someone with the 04A23 Cal ID be willing to help out? We need the part number off the ECU.

We’ll need to purchase an ECU. Once in hand we’ll be able to provide support.
